Hope this helps

1. New tyres highly recommended, New oil Semi-synth enough

2. There is no such thing as ever enough spares but minimum is sparks and fuses

3. Know how your bike handles on shitty roads. Fuel ranges at different speeds

4. Map of Cambodia M-Technik Paya Ubi Industrial Estate Pray that Chan has stock

Map of Thailand Go Hatyai Lee garden Shopping centre 3rd floor have bookshop

Mapbook Thailand Highway A to Z Atlas good quality and highly detailed.

Have never got lost in Thailand with it except BKK.

5. 1 day can but can u tahan ? Assuming u ride avg 100km/h inclusive of petrol, border and traffic light time(ie much faster than 100km/h),

U need from

GP to Hatyai 9 hours, 900km

Hatyai to Bkk outskirts 10 hours, 1000km

Bkk to Arranyapathet (Thai border with Cambodia) 4 hours,400km

Total23 hours

If u think u up to it then go ahead and try.

Avoid BKK at all costs From highway 4 turn into highway 35 (lesser traffic lights) then turn left into highway 9(surroundung BKK) then onto Issan

6. What sort of servicing U need? Only Phnom Penh have big bikes shop and they dun carry spares they order as and when they need from overseas. Bring ur own sparks and filters if just normal servicing. Semi Synth oil can get there.

7. Pillon is Ok except for SHITTY road between Thai border and Siem Reap(Angkor Wat town) Bike can handle it? Can u handle it?

Shocks need to be in good condition!!

If u have top box then on this stretch make sure its very secure.

Mine is high quality german brand and strapped with 4 bungee cords it still flew off

BTW STX 1300 or FJR 1300

If u are the type that cannot stand bike getting dirty and scratches then u better not go :cheeky:

Last and most important of all go FIND CHAN at M-Technik He is Cambodia Guru and has contacts there

At the beach for Loy Krathong

Looks like the 4 or 5 of us are planning on a cambodia trip one way or another. Might be good to come together to discuss/share info.

Thailand can do normal servicing everywhere but if u need parts only BKK, Phuket and Chiang Mai have proper big bike shops.

FJR road clearance not very high. Seriously not recommended for 2 up riding in Cambodia because u will definitely bottom the shocks somewhere and and scratch your bottom fairing.

Better to get ur GF to fly to Siem Reap via budget air then fly back from Phnom Penh.

Me riding Vara 1K with Ohlins still kena bottom occasionally.

Cambodia very very little big bikes.Only saw in shop. Mostly Bajas and XR 250s.

Ur friend came back with no scratches? Then he/she very lucky. I am referring to many small chips and scratches not big ones due to all the gravel here and there.

I have no itinerary Previous trip no Still on trip :cheeky:

Just need to be back in Sillypore b4 world cup starts

Cost of trip cannot say about 1K on petrol alone so far but have gone round Cambodia,Laos and Thailand

D rest is up to individual ie Can stay in guesthouse or die die need to stay in hotel

Whether u love ECA at night :cheeky:?

Whether u go  every night?

Whether u are want to go on day snorkelling tours out to the islands?

All this adds up Anyway beer is cheap in Cambodia only US$1/mug at most in pubs

like machiam back in Spec Mess. Laos even cheaper US$1.5 / jug.

As I said go look for Chan if u have any queries.
