hi nwebie here. how do you actaully do a hard run in?

There are no "hard & fast" or "standard" ways, but more towards a recommended idea of run/break-in logic behind it, hard or soft. If you did take some time to comprehend the logic as posted before, there are a few ways to do it most common ways are :-

1. Dyno hard run-in --> Faster/controlled/safer as you do not hit the roads

2. Road hard run-in --> Not as controlled/more dangerous/cheaper

Taking in mind on the technicalities of run-in, you can use http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm as a base.

As I choose the latter, my methods ain't 100% as what is suggested, but pretty much along that line.

1. Collect bike at 1900hrs.

2. Waited till 2100hrs.

3. Rode it from 0,000km in 1st gear varying the rpm (please warm up) bearing in mind the logic to an optimal run-in to my office in Benoi, approximately 10km

4. Waited for a companion & we hit NS to pull through the rest of the gears & through the rpm range. (remember to unload also instead of loading all the way.)

5. Reach back SG & change EO+filter at approximately 80~100km.

That was the best I could do to minimize danger & optimize run-in mileage, considering its not a controlled environment.

There could be other ways of doing it, but that how I took my.

DISCLAMIER:-

I do not stand by any warranty pertaining to the above, but just a personal opinion/method towards my own actions.

Thank You.

06 and 07 cam duration alittle different....but machine more less the same....but the 08, though looking similar...has other changes....including a thicker brake disc and lighter rims.

I believe most go by temp reading on the panel (Well I am not saying its wrong). In my own perspective, what I do is to use my hand to feel the engine crankcase. The reason is on a nice cold morning, when I read 70~75deg on the meter, the crankcase is like not warm sometimes.

So I use meter readout as a gauge, hand feel as an assurance.

Thank You.

get used to all this "nice words" used by the bike shops. this is used as a short term tactic to appease u and get u to stop harrassing them bla bla. actual fact is when the bike arrives they will definitely call u to ask u to pay the remaining deposit and collect the bike.

so suppose say ur bike is still not in sg yet.. i can either say its being shipped here..stuck somewhere in the ocean.. stuck at PSA..stuck at my grandfater house bla bla.. so get used to it. dun expect too much until u see it in the shop that u ordered from. and next time when u or ur frenz buy new bikes u can try to put a clause in the agreement stating that if bike dont arrive by certain date, u can refund ur deposit.

happy waiting bro! i hope and am sure the wait will be worthwhile :)
