Hi all,

These few days,i have been around searching for daystar..i went to the shop that bro rae07 mentioned. There are alot of daystars there..i ask the uncle there..he talk damn loud one..he mentioned that all the daystars there regarding of plate are 1.8k machine price..there is also a suzuki marauder and a honda rebel which is 1.5k.

Then i start to ask him regarding of the insurance, etc and all that amount to 2.9k otr.

However,i then decided to proceed to mah motors..this friendly salesperson whose name is roy showed me a fs plate daystar selling there.the condition is okay la..not so nice..the seat is damaged..rusty..etc.

Roy said that the machine price is 2k. I then asked him to calculate the otr price. this is what he calculate.

Machine price-2.1k inclusive of 5% GST

Insurance 2nd party-$573

There are 2 other fee..if i remenber correctly it is the transfer and agreement fee which is $40 and $55 respectively.

Total-2.7k otr

I am now inclined on buying the daystar at mah motors as they seem friendly and honest?..anyone can advised me on this matter..like is mah motors a good bike shop..are the mechanics good as i feel the daystar there really needs a lot of work to be done.

No doubt Mah Pte is a reliable shop but I have a feeling you will ended up servicing your bike at Choongkok instead of Mah Pte. Reason simply because other than normal servicing of oil changing, they dun have the parts for Daystar and thus they have to get from the agent which is Choongkok and might jolly well ended up more expensive than you will pay at Choongkok.

To be frank, if you find the bike selling at Choongkok is expensive, I suggest you buy from private owner instead, this is because most likely some parts might have already worn out whether you buy from other shops or private owner thus, it make more sense to buy from private owner which is confirmed lower than any shops out there can offer and you can also use the leftover bucks for changing of worn out parts. Who knows, you might gotten yourself a good saving!

If you want to save trouble checking for any worn out parts, it might worth the while to spend the extra bucks and buy from Choongkok instead which will give you a safe mind on parts and warranty.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Hi bro nights, thanks for the reply

Actually i had wanted to buy at cka coz i had a look at their bikes and i must say they had makeover the 2nd hand bikes to be good as new. However the price deters me.

For example..if i buy at cka..i would have to pay about 3k more than what i had to pay at mah's.

As u know..i'm a student and if i buy a mah's,i would only have to pay about $80/mth compare to $130/mth at cka.I would rather prefer to buy it from a private owner but none seem to be selling theirs.

I just would like to ask..how much would it cost in average if i send the bike for complete servicing at cka after buying it at mah's.

The guy at mah's had told me that if i encounter any engine problem when i send it for first servicing..they would give me a full refund. He said like very confident like that..i dun know if i should believe him?

What do all of u think?

maybe it's just me, but I wouldn't trust anything a motordiam tells me unless it's in black & white. I know far too many people who have been let down by empty promises :(

Then..issit possible if i ask them for a black and white document stating that they would have to give me a full refund if i encounter this engine problem..will they oblige?

I myself have doubts, as if i put myself in their shoes..i certainly would not promise such a thing unless i am 110% sure i can service an FS bike into tip top condition..even then i would still think twice about promising such a thing...

manowar is correct, have to be very careful on sign on any paper,

sometime even writen in black and white, but they still say no to you,

I bought a used dealim magma from a dealer and found there were many

problems with the bike, but the dealer refuse to repair for me,

finally I have to pay a big sum of money to repair the bike.

Buying a used bike is very very depend on your luck, better take a longer

time to shop around, never tempted by the price tag, or you have

to pay a big money to repair it like me

CKA has done a good job in recondition their bikes, but I still think that they

are selling their bike in an unresonable hight price.

it even as high as some new Korean made bike, ie. Hyosung

I do agree that used bike at CKA is slightly over priced but taking into considering man hour effort spend I trusted that it is a very much usual practice in today business society.

I believe most of the people won't want to jump onto a cheap deal like 1K for a Magma (e.g. in my case) and ended up with many worn out parts and area that needed rectification up to at least 1K+ to fix and the bike still lost out in term of outlooks and missing of warranty. In the end, traded in my Magma for a used Daystar for safe mind till my 2A bike. It was my lucky day that the boss is willing to take in my Magma at what I have paid to the previous owner and gotten a new Daystar at a good bargain out of their goodwill.

Most bike shop are a fraud if you were to ask me these days with their used bike cause they never bother to recondition and dare to make empty promise.

Just my 2 cents worth.

:goodluck:

PS: Reason why Daelim bike cost more than Hyosung is due to popularity and lack of advertisment from Hyosung side.

Its a V-Twin thus definitely comsume more fuel than single cylinder engine. In term of power output I deem not much different from the Magma, they might range at around the same torque and top end since both are a mere 125cc engine only but of course Magma have a upper hand in term of fuel consumption and engine build, afterall the engine structure was of a collaboration between Daelim and Honda Japan but a V-Twin will be more tolerance in term of long travelling time and better distribution of heat. However I have taken my Daystar to as far as Thailand without any problem.

I finally settle for a suzuki intruder 125 after many days of looking around.

The price is 3.6 OTR. It is a FS plate. The outlook,i would say about 7/10.As it is within my budget..i decide to buy it.

Now..can't wait for my bike to be ready.

Any comments on this bike?

haha should have asked first before buying :)

Luv_cruiser used to ride an Intruder 125. He's since upgraded to an Intruder 400. It's a great bike, but extremely low resale value, I think. That's probably the only downside. Luv_cruiser had major problems with the carb (very very expensive to replace) but I'd like to think his was an isolated case.

Did you pay cash or are you paying by installment?

I'm paying by installment.

Actually, i have to confessed that the intruder 125 one of my choice for a cruiser bike apart from a daystar. However as it is difficult to find..i wanted to buy a daystar but as luck would have it..i came across this bike and finally after some thinking..decided for the intruder 125.i dun know how to describe it..like u see this particular bike and instanly u like it..

About the low resale value..i don't mind so much as i am planning to use this bike for 5 or 6 yrs or maybe more before planning to upgrade.

Anyway..i would like to know more info about this bike and anything at all about this bike..like what are the problems i might face in the future..where is a reliable and efficient bike repair shop which is skilled in doing up suzuki bikes especialy this intruder 125.

Any info would be greatly appreciate. thanks in advance :)

I heard Ah San (formerly from Sanfu) is an expert in the Intruder. Unfortunately, I don't know where he's at now. THere's a thread about this, I think. Search for it.

there should be 2 meters - the trip meter (which you can reset) and the odometer (can't be reset)

You were most likely looking at the trip meter. If you were indeed looking at odometer, then the bike's mileage is probably 99,999 + 128 km :)

The meter i'm looking at is the one on the fuel tank.

is there only one set of numbers on the speedo dial? My virago has 2 sets of numbers on the dial - one for the tripmeter, the other for the odometer.

There's only one number..it is digital btw...cos just now i see the tyre also quite new..i ask..the boss said it is the original tyres and he said the previous owner doest not use the bike much as he bought a car.i also ask if he reset it but he said that meter cannot reset one..

Sorri ah i ask all this silly questions...but i'm just curious and anxious..
