hi bros,

recently i encounter a problem for my gsr600, the engine idle is now at 900rpm & sometimes engine will stall.

i called bro bone where to adjust the idle higher, ok base on his instruction & the service manual, i able to adjust the idle to 1200rpm

here is the problem,

after adjust the engine idle higher to 1200rpm, my auto fast idle seems like missing (start up from cold engine, the idle will appear higher then normal in order to warm up the engine)

any1 can help with this

How many km you done on your bike? If 80K + I'll advice you to do a major servicing... which consist of:

1. Timing Chain replacement / tensioning

2. Throttle Body cleaning

3. Valves clearence

4. Injectors ultrasound cleaning

5. Change oil seals (o-rings)

6. EO change, EO Filter change, spark plugs change

7. Coolant flush

8. Sensors check/clean (MAP, MAS, O2, TPS, LAMBDA etc)

9. Air filter change

10. Vaccume re-cal

11. Clear ECU fault codes

My bike had the same symptons as your. After servicing, my idling is a steady 1.2K with my auto-fast idle come back on whenever i start my bike. :)

It re-vitalized my bike... :)

The fast idling is also mechanical. You can adjust it too. Need to raise tank to find and adjust it. No fast idling is not a big issue so dun worry. Just remember to warm up the bike properly before moving off. That to me is the most important portion before riding off.

Maybe can attend the DIY session, I am sure the seniors will be able to show how to.

Haiz my bike still at the workshop with the mechanic still puzzled at what the prob with my bike is. Started off with the FI signal coming on while riding with jerking when that happens. Now the bike juz dies off on idling and needs to be restarted using the kill switch... Any ideas guys what might be the fault?

Hi GSR experts,

Need your valuable advise....new to gsr family and started riding 2 weeks before..

Problem - After start riding, when shifting up to 2nd gear - close throttle - apply clutch - engine stall--need to start again to move on..

noticed this while shifting from first to second and some other gears at times...

Any idea on this issue?

Also where you guys usually go for repair for GSR400?

Anyone stay near woodlands area..it will be a good thing to meet up and talk more on gst thingy...

thanks a lot...

Pls help..

cheers...bibin...

funny part is that when start up in cold the idle is 1400rpm but after move off & temp is 80 & above, the idle is 1100rpm, the idling is very unstable

Try to adjust your idling a ted higher, if it doesn't help you need to ask a mechanic to check your sensors ie: MAP, MAS, TPS, O2, LAMBDA etc. I guess you bought a 2nd hand right. check how much km had the bike clock already. If it hits 70K - 80K it's advisable you do a major servicing (refer to my reply on top)

If you know how to short the ECU, you can get to know what fault codes had been residing in youe ECU memory. It's under the LH fairing under the seat just beside your removable fuel tank support strut :)

clog fuel injectors, incorrect valve lift & timing can cause idling rpm to fluctuate.

Cheapest and easiest item to change is spark plugs. Do take out the plugs and see if there are any signs on them. When the last time you change them? What type? Iridium? Normal? There are pros and cons. Do also check the plugs cables if you are using Iridium.
