Guys, to those who are using original pipes, I notice the cover became yellowish over time due to the fume coming out from the exhaust, any way to remove that yellowish stain?:/ tried srubbing it off with regular water but to no avail

Hey! Looking at to change to a GSR400 and would like to know what are the things that made you guys switch from S4 to GSR400?

S4 too mainstream?

Like to also know the reliability of this thing :)

My reason is simple, I trade in my 1st hand S4 Spec III for GSR400 (2007), coz people keep banging my bike (If count correctly 3 times). After changing to Suzuki, no such effect anymore. Maybe no luck with Honda. Hahaha. Ohh ya along the way, met with great people. Now all riding + lepakz buddies. :thumb:

Have!

Check out this link here.

http://www.scribd.com/doc/7344894/GSR600-Service-Manual-Eng-Vanaf-2006#outer_page_19

This is stated in the Service Manual. For the GSR 400/600, the intervals are very similar. Periodic maintenance as stated by the manual.

However, it is up to you to take care of this baby.

Things like Valve clearance can be done after 50k, no issues. Throttle body synchronization can be done when idling is irregular. Timing chain when there is some irregularities with your engine.

When to change chain and sprocket varies greatly as it'll depends on whether do you take care of your chain by cleaning and oiling as necessary.

Air filter will depend on whether did you change to an aftermarket option . Aftermarket air filters usually needs to be cleaned instead of replacing so you'll need to get the cleaning kits suitable for your air filter and follow the instructions given by the manufacture.

Spark plugs can last beyond 10k but better change it within 1 year or 10k whichever comes 1st. Though, this length of time can be extended through the use of Iridium spark plugs as they are hardier but sometimes, you might need to clean it.

Bleeding of brake hoses will depend on the "gripe-py-ness" of your brake levers. When they are spongy then it is probably time to bleed your brakes.

When your forks seal breaks or the damping is lacking, probably you need replace your fork oil and seals.

Change your bulbs when it blows.

Uhh, well, that's about it.

Thanks for the feedback bro. I dun log in that often, so this 'thank u' is long overdue :) went in to UM to service the brakes and got a new set of chain sprockets.. Could feel instant improvement in the ride. Btw, looking at ur signature pic, I can't help to admire those shiny Exhaust manifold. I've got this fetish for shiny metal. My previous owner neglected them so no amount of meguiars metal polish gives me the finishing u got there.. Mind to share ur secret?

S4 is not that bad just that it's common,

I'll list out what I personally think of the pro and cond.

Pro:

1) the more street fighter look than most 2a naked bikes,

2) wide, long and comfortable seat,

3) wider tires and mono shock for the rear,

4) up to date technology eg. Digital meter with gear indicator, side stand sensor, EFI fuel delivery system,

5) has special (added weight plates) foot pegs for both pillion and rider (reduce vibrations alot!)

6) Suzuki,

Cond:

1) not that friendly and recognized in the local market (some parts are hard to find)

2) mantainence are almost same as a class 2 bike,

3 lesser turn radius than the s4 (need extra effort while parking into squezy lots)

4) some people said its heavier than the s4 hence under powered for a 400cc,

5) not much aftermarket pipes available,

6) not able to have main stand,

7) sucky underseat compartment,

I think that's about it, hope it helped you to make your decision!

I think you got me confused with Bro Lex. My GSR400 is Silver (stock) in colour.

Hey guys, been riding my baby for 4 years now. Have not touched the fork oil, seals, springs, retainers, etc at all. Just wondering, what are the symptoms of a poorly maintained fork? Seen some of the bro's post here mentioned changing only when fork oil leaks. I do feel the bike leaning in a forward and downward movement when applying the front brakes. Does this mean the fork needs to be serviced?

Ok guys

.im planning to get gsr400...how much is it now

..motard rider now..any much difference to change to naked bike??? Pm me or reply here.thankssss

Well, firstly it's the posture and ride height. Other than that, you are changing to a in-line 4 where all the torque sits at high rpms.

No fairings but heavier, larger sized wheels, greater top end, higher maintenance.

Mmm, much can be said but it'll be better for you to test out the posture of the bike at the bike shops, some might even allow you to have a test ride. You could also try to remember the bikes from your Class 2A lesson as they have similar posture to the GSR400.

you're still not letting the cat out of the bag!

Haha, I've only upgraded recently. Have not even touched that product yet, so what you see is all done using Meguair's Motorcycle All Metal Polish.

Just a quick one. Where is a good place to find gsr400? Say, any specialty shop that holds more gsr400 stock?
