Hello Guys,

 

I rode my scoot the other day and i find it hard to change gears. When i turned it to gear 1 and clutch in, the bike is still moving as though its at its biting point. Any idea whats the reason? Do i have to change the clutch cable or more than that?

you have to tighten your clutch cable or just change it to be safe.

how does the slack adjuster for the clutch work?

You tighten it with a spanner. It pushes back the cable outer, effectively tightening the cable.

hey peeps any of u familiar with a spraypainting shop behind cik ali's (tampines "ah loo workshop")? im just guessing thats where cik ali sends his vespas to. just wanna ask if anybody is familiar, and about the quality of workmanship there. saw a couple of vespas, stripped to just the bare frame, sprayed on with primer coating. i asked and he quoted $500. whaddya guys think? lemme know please thanks!

is 500 inclusive of removing the engine and wheels/forks?

 

if it is it sounds ok to me. not sure about the quality though. base coat + clear coat + baking would be good.

hmm from what i saw, the vespas were completely stripped down to the bare frame. and after the primer coat, the metal looked near perfect! no rough edges nor uneveness. not sure where the other parts like the engine were though. i was wondering if there's anyone familiar with the shop, would like to know the process. like, does cik ali help to strip down the bike first then send to spray, or does this shop dismantle the scoot itself..

Check if the paint shop does other vehicle spraying and if they have a workshop. My best guess is that, like most vespa workshops, cik ali dismantles before sending to them for spraying. If thats the case, get the quote from cik ali himself as dismantling is also chargeable.

Default blue vespa PX200

blue PX200. FD plate, manufactured in 1984. COE till 28 Feb 2014. Recent things done to the bike are:

 

-Changed rear tyre, clutch and gear cable (1 month ago)

-Change battery (2 months ago)

-Change piston, coil and cdi (about 5 months ago)

 

Also, had installed some neon lights under the floorboard. give away a rear rack and 1 set of white single seat at the same time, front and back seat.

 

selling at 1.5k

If all else fails... beedspeed (and most US shops) will post jets via regular mail... so not so ex...

You'll need to bring the parts ready disassembled and self collect also... all they do is blast...

ITINERARY

 

1600hrs - Meet up at Kallang Macdonald's (Envelopes will be issued to each & every invidivual group to be donated to Taman Warisan, Istana Kampong Glam (Malay Heritage Centre)

 

1630hrs - Convoy will begin from Kallang Macdonald's to Taman Warisan, Istana Kampong Glam (Malay Heritage Centre)

 

1715hrs - Arrival of GOH & Handing over donations

 

1730hrs - Weekend Cultural Performances in Malay Heritage Centre

 

The Sat weekends at Malay Heritage Centre will be run by the Community Clubs in Jalan Besar GRC. Spectators will be treated to an array of colourful performances by the multi-talented and clolourful performers from the Community Clubs. Performances will include traditional Malay Dance, Silat, Kompang and others.

 

1830hrs - "Iftar"

 

Visitors can also join in the "Iftar" or the breaking of fast at 1900hrs happening at Kandahar Street where many locals and tourist with the Food & Goods Bazaar happening daily from 3pm-10pm from 1 to 29 September 2008.

 

*This is a roughly how the programme will be.

 

*The whole event will finish est. at 2000hrs.

 

*Time or programme may change prior to notice

lambchops... you can get a torque wrench from most big hardware shops... like homely hardware... or those along jln besar... Just be sure to get the right range... the vespa needs one with quite low torque settings... like 0.5kg up to 9kg...
