rae07>>> haha. u managed to chat under the brigde?? lol! next time we meet hope u just approach me to. cheers...

sharpey>>> my pipe is damn RUSTY!! so i guess i just buy a 2nd hand "tong" pipe from mdm soh at TA for a start. too bad they dont have sito plus in sg. what a bummer! but let's say if i decided to but 1 via online, i dont even know how to. as in the currency, etc....

although fixing up a disc brake on a vespa will boost ur confidence when braking. but i think it will deter the vintage look. but no offence, fixing up a disc brake on a vespa really is really good as it boost up ur safety too.

btw i'm not that daring enuff to try that pipe or imaginin to ride it beside ROV. lol! but truth is, that SIP pipe really is SICK!!!

just my 2cents.

p.s: whats the address for ban hoe leong? or how to go there?

No worries... Just don't change your fork for an old style "3 legged" variety... They might "look" good, but they dive like crazy under hard braking... not so safe :-)

Go to streetdirectory.com and search for Jalan Besar Plaza... the scooter shop is on the ground floor facing Jln Besar... Ample parking on the pavement infront :-)

You can buy online with a credit card.... No need to worry about currency... A sito plus might be worth saving up for (but I really don't know how much better it can be than a tong pipe... they're pretty free flowing!!)

Hey Sharpey, not that i can afford it...but out of curiosity, is there any conversion kit for Rear disc brakes for the PX?

There is... SIP make just about everything!!... The thing is... you don't need better stopping power at the back of the scooter... a disk brake there would do little other than look totally BLING!!! (which is cool if you're a rich man)

Remember that most bikes brake 70% front, 30% back... Getting a front disk allows you to do this on a Vespa... making it much much safer to ride. (esp. if your bum is a big as mine :-)

dont bother changing to an aftermarket pipe... i ever stopped by a ROV and gotta talk my way out of $700 fine and a trip to LTA for 30 mins. yes the feeling is great with an aftermarket pipe. the sound is loud and u can feel the extra power but the vibrations will be greater too... a tong pipe is suffice for that needed power.

cheers

Come original, u gotta come original...

I'll say my peace here and leave it at that....

A three legged 60's/70's fork is tonnes worse than an 80's PX fork, it is less stable at speed, and less able to cope with heavy braking without diving (happens when you only use the back brake too....) Hint... that's why the PX doesn't use it....

Scoots can look nice the way they were designed... Personally I love the PX styling... its retro in an 80's way... electronica and bad hair... Sure it's boxy and doesn't have the same lines as a Super or Sprint... but If I wanted one of those I'd just buy one....

To be honest, modding your PX to look like a Sprint or Super is a waste of money... You'll end up spending as much as you would if you just bought a Sprint or Super.... Making your scoot something it's not is akin to putting Lexus badges on a Toyota Harrier...

I don't mean to offend anyone here :sorry: .... just (as Randy would say...) Keeping it real...

well. i guess everyone has different point of views on everything. let's just respect their opinions and suggestions on everything. so i guess i just have my pipe "tonged" to add abit of power to my scoot. having an aftermarket pipe is a big risk. not wasting my money just to pay fine for an aftermarket pipe. thanks everyone for ur tips and answering my questions. i'll ask again if i have doubts on anythin...

cheerios!!

sharpey>>>

i've already asked at vicom when i went for IU inspection. it's about $150 + install...

rebo>>>

nice scoot. where did u go to have ur paintjob done? and how much does it cost? n how long does it takes?

Posted

marciano>> 2nd hand iu's usually priced frm $40 to $70 at bike shops. (do check if transfer fee of $10+ is included)

and if ur bike ain't got a batt, it means extra charges if you are gonna have unit installed by shops.

You know Rae, ur bike really attracting stares n whistles

At the SBBF on Sat, i was sitting opposite ur bike and in a span of 15 mins, i counted at least 6 passerbys stop to take a look and at least 2 of them was walking around it to have a better look, as well as the usual "Oh-Whee! Thats a real cute bike!" by the gals and the "Hey, Dad, can we sit on the cute bike?" by the kiddos.

2 Cheers for the paint job!!! :cheer: :cheeky:

nope! its just a dinner n ridin session :)

But i think there's another BBQ later during OCt. That probably Vespa club members pay less while non-members pay more....

For this Yishun Dam / Jalan Kayu ride, it should be impromptu n informal gathering!

I should be free, barring any weird happenings popping up last minute
