Just added R2 when i topped up petrol in the wee hours of the morning after about 2 hrs of rounding n the differences were amazing!!!

easier to clutch in at higher speeds, easier to change gears, less vibrations!!!

amazed!!:thumb:

Wow... I think your butt dyno needs some fine tuning  2T oil won't affect gear changes (the gearbox uses different oil....)

BTW the Butt Dyno can be a very accurate way of telling the difference after you change something on your scoot, but often its just the brain playing tricks with you... like when you pump Vmax of Super Wonderful Xmax ocatane petrol and think... wow my pickup is sooo much improved... it isn't.

R2 is a good fully syn 2T, but its not that wonderful until gear change easy. haha as what sharpey has said, its different oil.

anyway, i believe some of the increased performance is psychological. But its a good thing to go fully syn

hi there. long time nvr post in here. been bz with NS.

anybody noes approx. how much does this thing cost in TA?

1. 'tonging' and de-carbonising of exhaust.

2. de-carbonising of head, piston crown, etc (is it included in the $30 full servicing?)

thanks in advance!

Posted

Who knows...?I know... Running fully synth is only better in 2 ways (that I can think of...)

1) its better for the environment... eg less smoke

2) It has a much higher resistance to high temps... meaning you're much less likely to have a seizure if you run is (as compared to semi, or non synthetic oils)

If you'd like to believe it makes your scooter faster/smoother... do be my guest... Just pointing out the facts here.

Emrun  long time no see here....

The tonging... not sure

The 2nd bit... yep included in the 30-40 dollar servicing... (if that includes new sparkplug..keep the old one, as they tend not to need changing so often...)

Hey Hey,

exhaust rusted...

thinking of removing it, sanding, spraying high temp paint.

possible to do?

tools needed?

anyone done before?

-= Unsure of what to get=-

Posted

Tools needed....

Big spanner (buy yourself a set of spanners and sockets)

Hammer and metal punch (like a soft metal chisel)

Loosen bolt that connects exhaust to frame, then loosen bolt that connects exhuast to engine... Place soft metal punch on exhuast collar and start hitting... hit hard each time till it comes off....

Then you can remove the bolt that connects the exhaust to the frame....

While you're cleaning the outside... (use a steel brush) you may as well buy some drain cleaner and give the insides a wash too... check http://www.vespamaintenance.com for details.

I'm so nice that I've found the link....

http://www.vespamaintenance.com/engine/exhaust/index.html

Easy peasy....

BTW, buy the expensive high temp paint (black and yellow can), not the cheap BBQ paint (will not last long...)

ehlo....i am back from the highlands....

hmmmm....good that this thread is still moving.....

yeah, i think i can't make it on time for the meetup on my scoots on the 12th....most likely with my BB.....

probably getting the bike on Sat then ride around before i sent it for re-paint (in feb).....

as for the cable wraps...i will check with AJ then since my BB service shop is a stone throw away....

cephelix, your adventure with your scoots in such a short time seems like a huge experience mate....anyway, the more you work out with your scoots, the more you know them....

emrun, long time nvr see you post...

the normal service should be about 30-40 as sharpey has mentioned...

go get ur scoots for some clean ups....

for decarbonising, not too sure...but if it cost just as much to buy a new piece, you might as well get a new one...btw what exhaust are you using?

thanx again for the info....

i'll peruse it at my leisure (don't know if peruse is the right word to use..just throwin em out there)

the expensive paint, where can i buy it from?cost per can?

exhaust...bros said he just emptied out the insides..

so i'm guessing a tonged one....

like the normal scoot exhaust....

since i'm not doing anything major this mnth, i guess i'll just be touchin up on what is already there....

bb?blackbird?

where'd you go for servicing?

yeah, learned alot from my scoot..

anyways you guys could probably help me check out certain other things..

if i go at high speeds in gears 3 n 4, there would be a pinging sound...

so do help....

since i'm meeting you guys before going to the mechanic...

cephelix

yup.....bb = blackbird....

going to sell it liao....hence gonna rely on my scoots for next week on....

i usually service my BB at K&T which is a few shops away from Ah Joo....

As for the high temp spray, any hardware shop should sell them....

price-wise, i am not too sure....

yes, "tonging" the exhaust is to empty the internal of the exhaust but not all....

some holes are also drilled to enhance the performance...

itsonfire, it is a good habit to switch off your fuel tap when you don't use it....

so that it does not overflow.....BUT do remember to switch it on when you start your scoots....

ooo...

ok,so that's tonging...

don't know about the holes though....

read thru the link...

looks like quite abit needs to be done for the exhaust...

looks like i'll have to spare a saturday or sunday doing it....

maybe during CNY eh?

n yeah...goot practice to turn the fuel tap off if you aren't riding..

it's alot less of a hassel then having to dry out your spark plug...

and remember to turn it on..

twice i forgot to turn it on and i was wondering why my scoot suddenly lost power and praying that it wasn't anything wrong with the scoot..

ahahaha...

luckily it was only because i forgot to turn on the fuel tap...
