cephelix - yep bianca's still at ah joo's undergoing servicing and respraying. i highly doubt she will be ready by friday. anyway, i asked aziz the other day if he was keen on joining you guys on friday but he has something on already. didn't bother asking tazzy_jnr cos well, firstly aziz (tazzy_jnr's husband if you don't already know) can't make it and secondly, i was thinking with my bike at ah joo's, i probably can't make it down either.

gweester - yeah i guess i could always drive my dad's car down if you guys don't mind. it's a little strange joining a classic vespa outing without my vespa though :cheeky: not that i don't do it with the aj guys but it's kinda different cos i'm very familiar with them haha

gwee, sharpey, anybody > advisable to remove battery n put in rectifier like Gwee's scoot??

just curious

why would you wanna remove the battery and add in the rectifier?

my sprinty does not come with batts hence i dont have a choice but to add a rectifier regulate the current for my scoots....

without the batts, you cant have other add on like horns and stuff....

fluffpuff, i do agree on joining the vespa outing without a scoots is pretty weird...

cos i join the VCS pple on my bb (when my scoots are still restoration stage), it kinda out of the norm....

but i guess for this meetup, i would love to go if i can make it on time to know the people who are in this classic thread...

Moreover there will be discussion on some scoots stuff and probably some hands-on (courtesy of Sharpey since he is bringing his tools down), it would be good to go and see see look look....cos i need to "re-tune" back my bike stuff for scooters...been away riding other bikes too long...

guess even if you turn up driving a car, you would be able to pick up one thing or another....like changing of sparks....

wats a rectifier for? is it the metal box on the left hand cowl? As i know that is a voltage regulator. from what i know the vespa doesnt need the battery to run all the electrical that is if u are on a 12 volt cdi. the battery use for coil start,iu ,external horn. but a fren of mine power his signal thru signal.engine off hazrad can be switched on. I wouldnt know this as my electrical is not run via the ignition. keyless system like mercedes. Wohoo.

Cephelix> wat battery u using? Maintenance free battery is cool and hassle free. If ur bike got spare tyre rack at the front put there.if not juz put in the glove box that is.

from my understanding, most of the vespa does not use the battery...

my rectifier is a additional add on....a rectifier is use to direct electricity to drive my IU cos i chose not to have a battery...without the rectifier, other stuff like my bulbs will blow...cos it is a one way electrical transfer with no current going back the other direction hence my other stuff like bulb wont be affected....

keyless?? using switch?

ahuh i see. its an additionnal mod to the electrical system. can tell me more on it? installation/price and technical aspect. Quite interested. cos i kinda blown not the bulbs but my iu. So far no rectifier the bulb seem fine. even my osim halogen headlight can last 2 yrs still not blown yet. But this seem to be a nice addition to boost the electrical system. keyless and switchless.

maz, my rectifier cost about S$75 (not too sure about installation)...

As for how this rectifier works out, i really have no idea as i have not do up my IU yet (not connected) and my scoots isnt ready...the past 2 days i am having the bike for some easy riding (piston new) and i will be sending my scoots for re-paint 2nite...so it would be another 2 weeks b4 i get my butts on my scoots

on how good the rectifier will work out, i cant give you a definite feedback as yet...

will do when i have tested it...

i would think it just works as a non-current feedback so that other electrical stuff wont be affected by the IU...

as for the technical aspect, i have explain roughly what the rectifier does...

Also as in what rectifier is compatible for what model...i am also not too sure...need to find out more...
