Someone posted for a little help as how to 'chrome' the shinny area od S4. Here was my reply..tot some of you adventurous guy might like to know to :

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Get a small tin of paint remover from any DIY or hardware store or paint shop.

Cover and mask area that you might accidentally spilled the remover on it.

Don't have to dimantle anything. Get a small brush and paint small area at a time. If you are working on th cyclinder head..best to take of your fuel tank.

Make sue you ahve plenty of water around. Any part that you spilled on, quicky wipe it off with a very wet cloth or rinse it away with water.

Once the paint remover react on the laquer area you paint on...wait for a minute or two and wash it off with a very wet cloth. Better wear gloves..its acidic and very 'burning'.

After the shinning surface shows..you can polish it with Meguire metal polish.

Please check the thread about chroming in the forum.

Have fun :D

End can no need...just applied direct and don't use paint remover or sand paper for it. The part of cloth that gets blacken...keep applying with it on the area you are polishing..it act as a 'rubbibg compound'...evry effective.

Metal polish I can vulge for is Meaguire..available at NTUC hud or NTUC festive mall. Other places have too but can't quite recall.

It all depend on how lazy or how hardworking you ae...or how much time and passion you have....LOL!...jsut kidding lah...but some truth to it.

OK..its all about patient and risk. Myself when I started...I used the finest sand paper..wet it..use jif and Meaguire on it and gently sand away the bad dull laquer layer. Its safe that way, require more time and the only 'disavantage' is reaching those creviceses or tight areas and oso the finishing looks blurr (something that require a little more extra effort to polish over it again with the teal polish). All said here applies to all items like the engine top header.

The 'quickly' method is to use paint remover but can be more messy and 'reckless' which can caused paintwork damage on areas that you do not want paintwork remove. Of course, its the most effective method, fast and can be done with good preparation ahead like masking area that you might accidentally spilled some spray of paint remover on when the brush stroke flips at the end of a brush stroke. If this happened..its how fast you take a damp cloth and wipe it off before it burns in.

The choice and challenge is there..but do remember that these are not chromed surfaces as of real niclkle chroming..these are shinny aluminium and need 'regular' care. A spray and wipe off effort of silicon or waxs would help prevent direct damage from corrosive element.

At the end of it all my friend..the blink blink and twinkles under the noon sun of its beauty is a "Zen" and a  for joy!

Yes. NTUC hub or NTUC festive mall at the car accessories and DIY section. Mustaffa..AutoBac or just about most DIY shop in shoping malls. Brand?...any lah...just don't spend too much..they are just all about the same...how good oso kenna was off sooner or later.

If you can ever get one of the best (I doubt)..its "aluminium oli"..brand is from "Autosol"..got let me know.

Had never take a closer look at it before. You said "matted"..could be metallic matt aluminim paint..but if you think its a laqauer layer over shiny aluminim...you probably can do it using paint remover to remove the dull out laquer layer.

any tips n tricks how to clean gantung? the red insulated coil of the gantung also how to make fresh2 back? n the inside how to bling2?

Either have a good gauge chrome. If like to stay kilat red..wash with kerosene mixed with soap water or use degreaser..dry than use silcon spray. If got rust already..than have to sand and respray lah...and coast with layer of acrylic laquer.

juz a question can i spray those clear coat spray after i "chrome" my parts for it to last longer??

Yes you can but the problem is that commercial domestic grade type can spray acrylic and laquer would yello very fast. Moreover it would crack under our humid tropical environment if you don't bake layer by layer. Its a lot of work like baking each dry layer...fine sanding them down and spray another layer again till about at least three time (last layer no need to sand but must baked).

The only best and easy way is to have it silicon coated occassionally to prevent it from direct elemental damages like salty road rain water, chemical etc.

the silicon one..?

So far this two are the best "Rock Oil" silicon..$10.00 (hard to find) or SC1 from Mustaffah $17.50 (same content size as Rock Oil) When dirt and contaminant settle on them, even flang lube..wipe off can already.

There are many other brands like "Series 500..Waco..LPS..etc" too are available in most HDB hardware stores or DIY oulets..prices from $6.60 to $14.00.
