For those who dunno where exactly to lubricate (i.e the pins ) can refer to here Lubricating Motorcycle Chains

A good readup abt chain maintainence

check around....

on average how often we need to oil the chain if we fix on the oiler gadget?

can use those EO that is already been used for the engine, after drain off and use it to oil the chain? or must use new EO?

I use left over engine oil from ma oil change and used engine oil . I oiled it once everyweek and more on raining season . But dont over-oil e change when ur oiling cause more doesnt means good . Juz give it a 2 -3 roound if ur bike has a main stand on e inner pins , outer and center . Its best to oil them after u rode ur bike when e chain is hot and kinda expand so ur oil or lube reach everywhere ...

the oiler gadget is to keep oiling yr chain even u on the move..

so that yr chain will nv run dry.. juz like the timing chain in the engine where it constant being lub..

but too much oil will cause the oil to fling to the rims, disc brake or tyres which is bad..

seems to me that no matter wat kind of oiler u use, surely flings will be on the rims... can we put our minds together n think of a way that lubs the chain but flings zero?

I tot of putting something like a brush on the chain connecting to the oiler so the oil will not fling...

can anyoen advise me izzit better to oil via the sprocket or the chain.. cos i've just DIY one and for S4, its quite difficult to oil to the spocket as there is a metal covering the sprocket..

please advise...

Cheers!

u must remove the metal that cover the spocket if u wanna oil it using the spocket..

if u let the oil drip on the running chain, the oil may crush on the chain and lube very little or the oil may not fall on the chain instead..

if you guys interested, we can org a DIY session.

1. Meet up at fish shop to buy all necessary valves and tubes. Bring along your own oil reservoir!

2. Goto a nearby void desk with nearby Coffeeshop for DIY session.

3. Go home with your oiler... fine tune the oil flow.

all in all maybe less then $5 worth of parts and 10 min worth DIY.

if u buy the metal valve, the connection for one side is screw threaded..

therefore there is leak of oil thru these threads..

i juz dip a bit of super glue at the thread part..

anyone noe where got sell those valve wif leak proof?

the control valve i juz glue it so that it cannot adjust the flow rate again..

cos the oil seem to leak at the edge of the turning part..

Before I start this DIY session... I need you to know the short coming of this oiler:

1. the flow can only be regular if you tune it properly (takes a while)

2. there will be oil fling will show on your swing arm. If the oil flow is set too high, it might fling onto your rear tyre and disk brake...

This one can't help unless you are willing to spend on a precision needle valve

3. If you forget to off, you will have a puddle of oil on the floor. (depending on your tuned flowrate)

I am still looking into ways to stop this, planned to use a electronic solenoid valve, just got no time to source for one

4. Double oiler, have not tried it... but I think the S750WP have perfected it.. maybe can check with him.

So far only 1 responded for the Saturday 4pm DIY event. tentatively Toa Payoh Ctrl.

Bring along a bottle that can fit under your bike seat or where even you intend to fit it. and a WD40 tube for the applicator.
