Sorry bro to hear of your accident. Hope you are good.

I used to ride a Super 4 also, Version S with that Brembo brakes. Well and good in the dry, but when it rains, the brakes are useless, Brembo or no Brembo. Become Rambo in the rain.Totally useless...

I have to engine brake and ride slowly...scared the sh*t out of me a few times liao when raining.

One of the reason why I changed to the fazer. The brakes are a huge improvement lah...

To be frank, its pointless to get a smaller bike than your current S4. When u need the power to overtake and there is none, its downright dangerous.

For 2A, Super 4 still the best package. The newer ones for ABS and combined brakes.

And as someone who grab the brakes when **** happens, I say ABS is a life saver.

99% of us are non-Rossi, normal riders, and all these ABS is meant to help riders.

In school teach wat E brake must grip the fuel tank, right posture...etc. Wtf...when the **** happens, most of us will grab the lever anyway and leave it to god/ allah/toa beh gong/ buddha.

Well, when it rains, its easy to lock the rear tyres when clamp on it. I tap on it to slow down. Easy to fishtail...scary sh*t.

Speedy recover and see u on the road!!! :)

ABS .... tats is some thing tat will help when in the rain ....

wheel dun lock .. tire dun skid ....... you dun need it everyday

you only need it to save you a few time only ......

once the rear lock .. release the break and break again

rear skid .. control the bike back .....

you can do it! give it a shot again while you still can...

(if my size can, you surely can also man! slow but surely!)

this afternoon on the way back from work also got caught in a heavy rain even before starting the bike journey home.. noted two things:

1) my RS taichi needs a change. 2yrs plus now the lower front of the jacket leaks alot of water, and the in-seam of the pants(seldom use) also buang..

2) almost rear-ended a car from the left rear side as the driver E-Brake out of nowhere. thankfully i was at the correct position to pass the car on its left, between two lanes.. positioning also plays a part in a last minute attempt to swerve in avoidance.

take care ride safe!

Hey guys, check this out:

It's the waterproof spray for your RS Taichi raincoat, supposed to 'recoat' the waterproofs. Sort of a repair spray for your raincoat.

Ya...it's surprising how long they took to implement it on more bikes.

Life saver.

for most biker ...... cheap is the main issues

unless they able to lower down the cost of the ABS

which is actually not tat costly oso .... so sad

Ya, agreed.

Some new 2B bikes still using drum brakes... :(

Perhaps enough for normal braking, but for e-brakes, I do wonder if these World War 1 era brakes is enough or not...

yeah the point is there, when things happen, we can only act by instinct unless *touch-wood* very experience [in skidding] liao and know what to do.

world war 1 machine use drum brake is fine bcos the bike itself can't go fast and injury won't be that bad as this generation where a superbike can hit 200kmh easily.

thanks all for concerns. just got a 20cents mark on my knee and a 50cents mark on my palm. my wrist sprained and can't fully throttle.

came to work riding most is 80kmh or 100kmh.

i just need time to recover my wrist, maybe 2 weeks and will be riding normal again

all ride safe during this rainy season.........:thumb:

Whilst I agree that Brembo brakes are the POWER brakes.....

without ABS attached, they do often become OVER-POWER :slapforehead: when the road is wet.

IF you analyse the statements and think about it, you will realise that, this may be the case....

One of the reasons why we skid, is cos the brakes that are REALLY EFFECTIVE in the dry ... become TOO GOOD when the surface is wet :faint:.

The brakes that are just good enough for dry surface (World War 1 drum brakes) o_O become the perfect answer to wet-road braking:thumb: !

Meaning that..... If you got POWER brakes, BECAREFUL when road surface is wet.

Use as much engine braking as possible... IF you sayang (love) your engine too much to do engine braking. You will only end up BREAKING other parts of your bike!

One other point... the SLIGHTEST tilt angle or turn of the handle bar, combined with POWER BRAKES working on your front discs, will leave you testing the road surface with your skin.

All that said and done.... I am no Rossi either and when I panic, I too grab onto the brake lever with a death-grip! :slapforehead:

So..... Is ABS  the answer..?

Oh..... and if the ABS brake fitted bikes are beyond your budget, the solution is to RIDE AT A SLOWER PACE WHEN THE SURFACE IS WET.

It helps....
