Guess which word had this meaning.

1. Any code or set of principles containing different provisions for one group of people than for another, esp. an unwritten code of sexual behavior permitting men more freedom than women.

2. A set of principles permitting greater opportunity or liberty to one than to another, especially the granting of greater sexual freedom to men than to women.

3. A set of principles establishing different provisions for one group than another; also, specifically, allowing men more sexual freedom than women.

Round 17: 17/04/06, Gelatissimo

Date: 17 Apr 06 (Mon)

Time: 1900hrs

Meet for dinner: Burger King, Liat Towers, next to Borders (will proceed to Gelatissimo at 1945hrs)

New kid on the block, Gelatissimo, is located at Shaw House (just outside Isetan). Its gelato and sorbet cost $3.90 per scoop.

AUSTRALIAN export Gelatissimo opened an outlet at Shaw House, in Orchard Road two weeks ago. The company has been voted Sydney's top gelato seller for two consecutive years.

Gelato, which has Italian origins, is similar to ice cream, only smoother and richer. Gelatissimo offers a mind-boggling array of flavours, I counted at least 30. Unusual offerings include caramelised fig, biscottino, apple pie and zuppa inglese or English trifle. The fastest-moving flavours are tiramisu, chocolate chip and chocolate hazelnut.

Apparently the berry range and mango-flavoured sorbets are a hit with Singaporeans too. Sorbets are non-dairy and made almost entirely of fresh fruit. They contain no artificial colours or flavours and are fat-free. Even gelato is almost a guilt-free pleasure as it has a lower fat content than ice cream. White chocolate is my favourite. It is decadently delicious and eating it is like taking a bite out of a candy bar. I was delighted by how it tastes so much like the gelato I had in Europe.

Mr Vince Yip, one half of the pair responsible for bringing Gelatissimo to Singapore, credits this to the brand staying true to original Italian recipes. 'I've had Europeans on vacation here who tell me this is as good as the real thing,' said Mr Yip. All the staff members, including himself, have been trained on how to best make, prepare and serve gelato by experts from Gelatissimo's base in Australia.

The gelato and sorbet cost between $3.90 for one scoop and $6.50 for three. The store also stocks bambino gelatos - miniature ice cream cones filled with gelato. Sold in packs of six and twelve for $7.20 and $13.20 respectively, they are great for people who like to nibble small portions. Also check out the affogato - espresso shots topped with a scoop of gelato. Absolutely delicious. Or as they would say in Italy: Squisito!
