I've just changed the oil filter when I bought the bike last month. Thanks for the tips. I'll check to see if the filter side is leaking. Although the positioning of the filter seems a little too forward to be the side-stand leak.

Water pump leak is oil? If its water pump then should be leaking coolant right?
There is a oil seal and coolant seal in the waterpump unit...can just change the oil seal but change both better.

Gd morning guys.

Been noticing a slight oil leak at the part where my sidestand meets the ground.

The oil looks clean, unlike engine oil colour.

Anyone familiar with this? Where the leak is from?

If u just oiled ur chain too much..it happens..if u didn't..it's ur gear shaft oil seal need to replace...less than $12 and 15 mins job.

In this case..it's likely ur oil seal at the gear shift shaft..just go to any mototiam who does S4 can do liao lah. I only help enhance bike performance if they are sluggish with grounding, eo and coolant.

jus bought a standard renthal bar from cheong aik, e 1 which had jus been posted on unique fb page....so went to unique to get it fix, but mech told me e bar is too long, my clutch, throttle and brake cable will be too short....can any1 help to clarify tis point??? bought from cheong aik becos unique runs out of stock....

Compare length and height (if riser bar) of the new bar with the stock one. If its longer and or higher, then its required to change all your cables and hoses to longer ones. Otherwise if its too tight, it aint gonna work for e.g too tight throttle cable means that when u turn your handle bars, the throttle will turn on ..dangerous.

Auto throttle... Get longer throttle cables and clutch cables. Or just get back a stock S4 handlebar. Whichever u choose...

Dear fellow S4 riders,

I got lots of questions about my new Revo.

Bought this 2nd hand from a local bike shop as the first thing that caught my eye was that the bike was ALL stock parts and almost no scratches means no drops, plus no new welding marks anyway means it looks accident free.

Now for my questions:

1) I can never EVER start my Revo on the first attempt. When i insert my key to on and press the start button, the bike will not start and the oil lamp out will light up. I ALWAYS have to off then on again, and this guarantees that my bike starts. Almost every single time. Any reasons?

2) When my side stand is down, the engine will stall when I kick the Revo into first gear. Is there a safety switch for the side stand?

3) When I am on the express way and doing 90-100kph, and I let go the throttle, i feel a slight veer to the left. Turning left also seems much easier than turning to the right. Possible wheel misalignment / bent frame?

4) Had a stationary drop to the right side of the bike, suffering scratches to the handlebar, brake, side guard and exhaust. Thankfully my whole leg (supported by my safety boots) cushioned almost the entire fall. Notable thing to note is that my rear brake limit switch seems to have stuck/malfunctioned. Any quick advice or should I just go see my mechanic?

I got lots of questions about my new Revo.

Now for my questions:

Congrats on getting your new Revo!

I suggest you download a copy of the owner's manual here.

1) I can never EVER start my Revo on the first attempt. When i insert my key to on and press the start button, the bike will not start and the oil lamp out will light up. I ALWAYS have to off then on again, and this guarantees that my bike starts. Almost every single time. Any reasons?

What happens if you don't switch the key to off but just try to start again after the first try? It could be that the HISS immobiliser isn't reading your key code properly.

As you just bought the bike, I'd suggest you go back to the shop and ask them to check it for you.

See also page 21 of the manual. The oil pressure light should light up when you turn the key to "on" position. The light will then go off after the bike has been started AND your oil pressure level is ok.

2) When my side stand is down, the engine will stall when I kick the Revo into first gear. Is there a safety switch for the side stand?

Yes, there is a side stand safety switch.

3) When I am on the express way and doing 90-100kph, and I let go the throttle, i feel a slight veer to the left. Turning left also seems much easier than turning to the right. Possible wheel misalignment / bent frame?

This veering to the left can be because of quite a number of things:

- When you release the throttle, you may also be unconsciously taking the weight off your right hand. This then result in more weight on the left of the handle bar and the bike will veer left because of counter-steering effects.

Instead of just releasing the right hand, release the weight of both hands off the handlebar and use only the thumbs and forefingers of both hands to hover lightly close to the bars. This way, you can catch the handlebars if necessary when you do the test.

- Your tyres may be unevenly worn out, causing the bike to veer left.

- Your body weight might be steering the bike to the left. Many like to think that they can maintain a balanced weight on the bike without influencing the bike's stability while it is moving. The reality is that your body's micro movements are actually steer the bike.

You can check the wheel and frame alignment using strings and ruler. However, you will need to use a paddock stand.

What do you mean by "rear brake limit switch seems to have stuck/malfunctioned"?

Anyway, Honda is having a recall exercise for Revos for rear brake switches. See posts on previous page.

Call Boon Siew to make and appoinment and tell them your's is not working. Don't tell them you dropped the bike causing the switch to malfunction! You'll probably get a free replacement.

Thanks a lot! My bike is now vibrating at the handlebar probably due to my stationary fall. Any lobang on where to realign my wheels?

You're welcome!

The Revo is a robust bike and a stationary drop should not have any effect on the wheels. If anything, it may be your handlebar is knocked out of position and may be loose. Remove the top clamps and check alignment and re-install. Also check that bar ends are not loose.

Not recommended to change in JB. Even Malaysians prefer to change tyres in SG.

hi all

juz got a brand new revo and was wondering wat is the mileage for running in?

Everyone will say 5000km... But my mechanic suggests 10,000km to let it last longer. If u can't do 10,000 then 5000 should be enough... Because 10,000 will take about 6 months to a year.
