anyway, e prob is his bike keeps dying off.. even after riding fer some distance, when he stops at red light, the bike just dies off. and it's rly hard to start.. he went back to the shop, they said scram is lykdat.. muz rev to keep it alive at red lights.. den my fren gotta change spark plug wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy more often den i do.. he even carries a spark plug ard with him.. even aft changing so often it's stil hard to start, only the 1st time after changing new plug it can start with one kick. subsequently its jus so hard to get gg..

are scrams rly so hard to maintain? or is there smtg wrong with his bike? it drinks 2T lyk water too :S :help:

see if idle can set higher.

KTM spark plug must change once a month. if jet properly the spark plug can last 1mth plus.

The something wrong is because the bike basically not jet properly. anything worse hard to tell for now.

thanks ALL fer ur help! :cheeky: so roughly how much will tht cost? yup i did tell him it mite be his jetting.. but he went back to the shop n the boss told him scrambler is lykdat.. he say spark plug wet.. but seems to be havin probs too often.. every few days change plug is crazy imho..

Total rubbish. Where got ppl change spark plug every few days. People go race also never change so often.

hi guys, im thinking of doubling my ktm2 as both transport and dirt. everyday i will ride about 20km in average.

Will be changing eo every 10 hours of engine running time, sparkplug every 40 hours, piston ring every 6 months. Will be on pwm carb. any other advise guys? I heard that ktm can add 2t pump, is that advisable?

is there any other things that is needed to change yearly?

ktm pls dun use 2t pump, EO can change half to one month time, spark plug at one month~ piston ring 6 months.

PWM carb i can run 16~20km/litre depending on riding style and road conditions.

wa bro . . . 6l 150ml of 2t is quite alot leh which is 25ml/l . . . you whack the bike alot is it? for me i only use 15ml/l, which is 90ml for 6l only.

stalling i think your idling adjust abit too low, for mine my neutral idling is high, but when i kick down to gear 1 its like normal idling. mine had to set in this way, if not traffic light must keep throttling

ktm2 pwm carb is 350++, pwk 500++

lol where u ask sia, pwk so expensive.

neutral or first gear idling should be similar. its only when clutch in idle drop abit.

think u go check ur coolant level. lesser coolant den normal will have such situation.

dont know leh, i check the slackriders ktm parts price thread one.

my coolant is full, think gonna be the air filter or carb, filter pretty dirty currently. its actually idle high when bike is cold, idle normal when bike is hot.

im thinking of changing to pwm carb as well

cheers mate.

$12000 divided by 10 years divided by 12 months = 100 monthly installment for this bike

do people pay bike in 10 years installment?

i am not very sure because I nvr buy a bike from shop by monthly installment before. paying for a bike for 10years may not be such a good idea. good thing is can spread out the payment.

however, you also need to consider the interest incurred in the long run. you may end up paying a lot more.

a few things to consider. are you going to keep the bike for 10 years? new models are always coming up and most of the time, temptation to change bikes is great. if you are going to sell the bike after riding it for 2 years, a lot of potential buyers are going to be turned off by having to carry on installment COI for so long. most want to settle bike payment as soon as possible once they have the cash. there is the early settlement fee to consider if you decided to settle it earlier.

are you sure you are going to like the bike? unless u rode it before. to each his own, i almost want to sell my ktm 200 because i thought it was too difficult for me to handle off road. too high too snappy too noisy. value for the bike is always depreciating so selling the bike may end up losing 1,2k or so, depends?

probably you wish to ask the bike shop if they are willing to buy back the bike.

ever consider getting a 2nd hand ktm? i got mine at $3.6k. can use 2nd hand to test water first, if you really like it, then consider investing in a brand new one.

ic, thanks juvena.

buying at $3.6k, usually left with how many years?

I like the design and outlook of ktm.

i'm really new to scrambler.

i bought it with 2.5 years of coe left. it cost quite a bit but the bike comes with some goodies and after market parts. without the aftermarket parts, it probably could cost $2.5-3k. it really depends on the condition of the bike as well.

and one very impt question, are you going to use it for daily commuting? liking the design and outlook of ktm is one thing. the practicality of riding one for daily transport is another. ktm is a ready to race machine.

i only ride it on weekends for trails or motocross. i am very kiasu, i change gear oil after every 3 rides or so. i try my very best to keep it in tip top condition all the time to prevent any major hiccups as ktm parts aren't cheap. sometimes the once a week ride cost me quite a bit in maintainence. ktms are very good petrol drinkers esp with the stock pwk carburettor (mine is around 15km/l). however can change to pwm carb which doesn't drink as much (around 24km/l). that's why it is not recommended for daily commuting.

yep there are lots on the road. Some scramblers are dual purpose, friendly on the road for commuting and off road. The Honda XR bikes are usually quite hardy and road friendly. Personally, I don't think KTM 200 is one. Drinks petrol like crazy. But what I love abt it is its light weight and power. I actually have a vespa too which I use for daily commuting. The KTM 200 is solely for weekend leisure off road rides.

Hi guys, maybe its an old question. I will be taking my 1st motor lesson and wanted to buy a KTM200exc question are:-

1) Is it too powerful for beginner on road use?

2) is maintenance high for this bike?

3) im thinking of using it as my primary mode of transport meaning 80% road 20% offroad

4) is it safe compare to roadbike?

Sorry newbie here :p

P.S i know abit of 2 stroke engine stuff as im into RC gas powered car... things like high end and low end mixture, how not to let the engine die on idle, lean out etc so roughly i think i know how they behave
