hi! as far as i know, the wave S are running on carburetor. dunno bout the Wave S 05 thailand made like what you describe. neways, if you wanna knoe whether your bike is Fuel injected or not, the should be the PGM-FI written on the frame and the FI blinker/signal on the speedo when the ignition is switch on for fuel injected waves.

as for the problem, you can know by revving full throttle on neutral gear. if engine feels like dying or no power when you full open throttle, means there's the power cut thing we are talking about....

neways...cheers and good luck..

Solved your problem yet??? :cheeky: I cannot imagine the days riding with that "powercut"....... :faint:

My Wave S also have the power cut problem. It is power cut because recently my bike get worst. after the power cut I need to stop at the road side for 2 minutes before the spark plug "fire" resume. I changed CDI( from Ah Boy $68) before but no help.

I am changing to Wave i next week. The Wave i I am getting is with a "10 th Anniversary " logo, Is this the 1st batch Wave i ?

Thank you for your inputs...

Wave S with power cut problem??? Unheard of as it's a carb bike....the powercut we encounter on the Wave i is due to the EFI electronics.

I dunno if your Wave is 1st batch or not, but is it a new Wave i??? If so, no worries. Mine is the 1st batch Wave i and there's no "10th Anniversary" emblem on it anywhere.

Read the first pg of this thread and there's a rough guide to estimate if the Wave belongs to the 1st batch by looking at the plate no.....mine definately fall within the "1st batch criteria" as mine only double digits.

Thank you so much for both of your reply.

I have run in for 450km now, so far so good. Already changed oil at 400km.

Now change to Honda SEA 40 engine oil (S$5.00, get from Lim Ah Boy) after 2000km will change to ESSOS semi-syn.

"Notice that engine oil after draining should be only 0.7l"???

All info is taken from a Japanese website.

I just look at my manual again, its true!!!

0.7L when u change engine oil

0.9L when you overhaul engine and there is completely no engine oil inside.

Personally i feel 0.7L given in the manual should already be a conservative amount already.

Wave puts out about 6.8kw which is about 9+ HP. IMHO this is in restricted form.

Posted

it swallows 1L easily. I normally put 1L every EO change. same goes for Wave-r and s too. Carb more power, I'd say. Injection has more fuel efficiency.

And to say the truth, there are not much mechanics who are really familiar with the mechanism and they will blindly change or ask u to pay them to change the whole oil pump assembly in case anything happens, and blame on the Injection system. Thus, Wave-i nowadays hold less resale value than other waves.

But there are ways to fix the injection problem of course. I kinda solve mine just few days back. And confirmed today, there's a solution. Nice to fly at 100km/h and it's only in Running-in stage. Not yet power up yet.

i dunno, i think wave-s is a better option. my bike is not defect free and my pshycopath mechanic keeps swearing at it. i change my EO and sparkplug every month also same. well, next month parting with it for a bigger tank... cheaper petrol is te way to go...
