hi all,

i have just got my first cub today...it's a 2nd hand wave S, five years old but the plate is fba...seems that the plate does not tally with the years...anyway no issue to it...just got a few questions need fellow cub members help....

1)the gear shifting shift the gear up by stepping till gear 4,after that can't step again to change to neutral...got to kick up one by one till it reaches neutral..is this correct??

2)is there any fuel switch to cut off the fuel when parking??cos i cant seems to locate any.....

3)the engine brake is quite strong such that i am mostly on gear 2 unless really reaching stopping speed.....are you guys on gear 2 too most of the time when in low speed??

4)overall engine quite smooth but when it reaches 80kph, there's a slight hissing sound on my left bottom engine, not sure is it from engine or the chain....do you guys have this problem??

5)another thing, do most of you guys prefer to step on the rear lever to down gear or kick up the front lever to reduce gear??...

6)my tyre is maxiss(something like that)...is this brand ok??

7)as for the chain protector,do you think it is better to replace with the normal plastic type where we can acess the chain for cleaning purposes??

8)for wave S,will any indicator light up when it reaches reserve??cos i can see the amount of fuel left at the meter, not sure does it includes the reserve....+

sorry for the list of questions as i am a total noob with cub..hehe..

bro, let me try to help u out with ya question

pls correct me if i'm wrong, as i dun own a wave

)the gear shifting shift the gear up by stepping till gear 4,after that can't step again to change to neutral...got to kick up one by one till it reaches neutral..is this correct??

i tink u can kick down 1 more time to go to neutral

)is there any fuel switch to cut off the fuel when parking??cos i cant seems to locate any.....

ehh, i dun tink have the fuel cork

the engine brake is quite strong such that i am mostly on gear 2 unless really reaching stopping speed.....are you guys on gear 2 too most of the time when in low speed??

no idea

)another thing, do most of you guys prefer to step on the rear lever to down gear or kick up the front lever to reduce gear??...

ur preference

)my tyre is maxiss(something like that)...is this brand ok??

check the age of the tyre, or feel if the tyre is still sticky after u stop a ride, if it is harden, better change

)as for the chain protector,do you think it is better to replace with the normal plastic type where we can acess the chain for cleaning purposes??

it shld b easy for access

for wave S,will any indicator light up when it reaches reserve??cos i can see the amount of fuel left at the meter, not sure does it includes the reserve....+

no idea, but i guess it is better to top up when u see the fuel needle is low.

hope this helps.. :thumb:

if i dun remmeber wrongly.... you need to stop your bike totally to return to neutral...

5)another thing, do most of you guys prefer to step on the rear lever to down gear or kick up the front lever to reduce gear??...

use the rear lever lah... very relax one...

7)as for the chain protector,do you think it is better to replace with the normal plastic type where we can acess the chain for cleaning purposes??

please dump the metal container for the chain and get a regular chainguard...

maybe it is better to measure the mileage covered before every top-up to have a more precise reading...going by days might not be accurate as you may travel more on those 2 days and lesser on those 3 days...
