Howdy!

There seems to be quite a few post about steed in the past few weeks.

Maybe all the steed owners should intro yourself here and then we can trade infor and maybe arrange a gathering.

What do you guys think?

Anyway, Let me start off, I ride a black Steed VLS aka Springer.

Had the bike for a year plus. FQ plate. Abt 6yr old bike.

Fuel consumption abt 18km-20km per litre depending on how throttle itchy I am.

Top speed 140km/h, vibrates like hell at that speed, numbs the hands, legs and

butt!

You can see it in my signature.

I ride a Pearl white Steed VSE with 1 white and 2 side box.

Had the bike for 4 year plus. FP plate. Abt 7 plus yr old bike.

Fuel consumption abt 18km-20km per litre depends on the price of the petrol (which getting more pricy nowadays)

Top speed 140km/h.

My personal feels is that it is softer.

Good is when going over hump or uneven road, you feel lesser impact.

Bad is when you kup corner and road uneven, you will feel abit unstable.

But that doesn't stop one of our springer from kupping all the way!

You know who you are.........

But I just love the springer look so much, I wouldn't trade it for a fork oil one. :lovestruck:

great to hear positive things abt the spring fork.

one more question...any major maintainence needed for the fork joints?? like oiling etc? and how long can those springs last?

sorry 'bt the ton of questions...juz find this model very interesting. :p

If I am not wrong the fork joints are using seal bearings, so there is no need for maintenance, unless the bearing seal spoils. Although seldom but it does happen, so its good to have it check out when changing tyres.

For mine, its never been changed and is still looks good.

For another, younger but higher mileage bike, the bearing were change after abt 70-80k.

As for the spring, as long as u keep it rust free, its very likely to last longer than the frame. Simple WD40 and a rag once a month or so will do just fine.

By the way, why all the question abt the springer? you intending to get one?

Ex-Steed owner here.

97 VSE, now exported out.

Glad to see many riders still riding and loving this bike.

Of all the bikes I've rode to date, the Steed is the one giving me the least problem. In fact none at all. Too bad I couldn't resist the lure of sportsbikes for Class 2.

Some old pics I happen to find.

Installed 2 45-litre boxes. This was before the metre-tall backrest and slashcut pipes.

Candid posing on it with my fiance...

for people who are keen on steeds, all i can say is that it is a problem free bike.

absolutely! among all the bikes i've own, this is the one that has never ever required anything other than standard regular servicing and maintenance.

moreover mine was a recon steed ......
