My bike died off like there's no fuel supply. Can start back for a while but just wont last. After that u cannot start ur bike totally. U cant even push start ur bike. Dont keep on pressing ur starter button as it will just weaken ur battery. U will hv to end up changing both cdi n battery instead.

my case was when it run after awhile, it will sound like it is getting insufficient fuel. And when i throttle, it will be go again.. Had check the fuel lines and such and all is alright. Now suspecting it might be CDI issues. was thinking about getting a second hand one..hehehe

Hi guys,

i'm getting a 97' VSE this fri. So happy to join the Steed family at last!

As this is my first 2A bike, i like to check which are the important things to take care of during routine servcing or even look out for while riding? And may i also ask, why is that so?

For my current air-cooled 4-stroke 2B bike, i always ask my mech to change eo, change spark plug, check both brakes, check chain tension, check battery voltage and service carb. I understand an old 2A bike got more things to watch out for but i'm a complete noob on this.

Kindly advise :) Thk u in advance!

suspect of a current leakage on wiring...... battery "flat"

can be wiring or starter. Worst case scenario your coil. But can b other causes like coolant too. hard to predict old bike. :)

Steed's a near bulletproof bike! Just do your regular servicing like your class 2B bike will do. Welcome to the Steed family!

Do have the mech to check through the major wiring harnessess. I had engine performance problems for a few months back and finally had it pin point to a lousy alternator to rectifier wire connection. My spark plugs did not have enough current to spark brightly under sudden snap throttle input, and engine sputter as a result. Apparently the battery alone is not enough.

And check that there's no exposed bare wires. I had my license light wire exposed when I took over and it touched the frame one fine night and shorted my sub circuit, killing all lights except the headlight. Had to brake early and gently and lane change really slowly withought signal lights...

Old bikes like mine have been throught more than 7 owners and some might have brought them to sloppy mechanics who join wires by simply twisting them together - a big no no for high current wires. After having them cut, soldered and crimped, my bike now runs like a champ. And achieve 27 km/l while at it =p

Oh and do remember to change the oil filter together with every EO change. Passing new EO through dirty oil filter = dirty EO quickly. It's recommended by manual as well.
