hey guys.. been busy with my part time job..not much time to see whats up on this forum page... i read about veil. im surprised on how he treated you...i went there one time on hydhers recommendation.. they were very nice and polite.. if you guys can recall...i complaint about my front brakes being noisy as if a bird was being tortured down there..they jacked my bike and check the front wheel and told me i didnt have to waste money replacing the brake pads...nothing wrong with them... but if i wanted to..they could do it.. so i believe they are pretty honest people...which is kinda hard to find nowadays.. so i told myself. rather than paying so much at unique..i might as well go to first motors...

But now hearing this...id probably..maybe still go to them for normal maintenance purposes but maybe not major jobs....maybe untill im comfortable with them...

finally uploaded my bike pic too..haha as you guys can see...its all standard..no changes yet so far except for the casing under the seat...broke it a few years ago...and had it replaced with this printed on VLS... liked my previous one better but i doubt i can find it anymore...

btw hyder...you still have that knn air filter for steed? how much bro?

AnAMiwek, you can't do too much power coating or chrome will be the same after some time , is due to the brake disc as you use this bike daily (or almost) only by cleaning one by one every week you can hope to keep them in descent condition the original spoke are a mix of iron and alloy come "fugly" over the time pure iron is better but have to be realigned several time ... so you see each solution have advantage and disadvantage ...

That's before .... wait to see After

Sorry for the long mia. I just lodge a claim on 28/02/13 thru the Small Claims Tribunal against First Motor for failure to complete works on my bike within a reasonable timeframe and insatisfactory service.

Also seeking to claim back all amount that i've paid and to cease all forms of agreement with them.

Fellow riders, please remember that we have the rights to voice out and legally confront any bikeshops if we are clearly cheated, threatened or victimised. As paying customers, none of us deserved to be treated like dirt. They depends on us for a living, not us begging them to service our bikes.

U can try polishing them with aluminium foil and some water.

Of course I trust my skills. I ride alone cos I don't trust the competency of the driver next to me.

Anyone gonna scrap your steed?

Or know any bike shop with a steed thats gonna be scrapped?

(either due to coe expiry, engine seize, damaged beyond repair etc)

I only need a good frame for a transplant project.

Autosol + paper towel + alot of elbow grease and patience = shiny spokes.

But like Bardamuz said, after a few days of usage they will be coated with brake dust again. I deal with that by using a toilet brush and scrub them during my weekly bike wash.

Please note that Autosol is a very harsh polish and should only be used on parts in poor condiiton. To maintain those already-shiny chrome, use milder ones like Turtle Wax liquid chrome polish.

Honda engines are built tough and shouldn't have things falling off so easily. Even if you bottom out it's the radiator pipe and frame that takes the damage.

When I crashed my Honda Phantom the engine was still alive and running even when the bike was lying down on the road. :thumb:

Most people would immediately turn the idle screw but my advice is to bring it to eitherr Ah Chong at Planet or Rosli and tell them what happen. They have expert ears.

Thanks for your inputs xavez. Will head down this weekend.

However, one more question though. My bike starts to die off when idling. Even at neutral. Is it a carb problem or otherwisre?

Posted

My guess is either idle screw jumped (unlikely) or your air intake ducts sprang a vacuum leak due to the bump.

Hi, Coyote66, yup.. am looking at e33 or e42. But not sure will it be too low to mount and i think they don't have the racks. So was checking with the bros here whether had anyone tried to install panniers like this?

Quite difficult to put helmet on side pannier

Half cup maybe

I had a pair of e33 boxes on either side of my shadow when I bought it. Secured by just some solid metal strips as brackets. Not the best method but it stayed on well. However, using top box as side panniers leads to water seeping into the left box especially, due to the box lip design and the lean of the bike when parked. So the left box was used to exclusively store my rain gear.

Go and google on mutazu

They have a lot of nice side hard box

Come with bracket

I bought mine about $300 include freight charges

Take a look at the Honda shadow thread page 57 for pics of my bike

Mine is the smaller size one

Got another one bigger size

But as Jonborah mentioned

Will sip water it a little bit

Beware of the uncle and aunty though. Be firm in saying no if you don't want. And ask him what he's gonna do to fix on the items. The other time I wanted to change my gear shift pegs, I assumed it was the slip on kind. He took a grinder to my stock one without asking me... I was okay with grinding stuff off the bike, but at least ask first.

Nevertheless they have a decent selection of items. Carry some American brands like Show Chrome Accessories.
