U just got a Steed?

How time flies...

Big is certainly a warning but small can be downright scary! Never underestimate the effectiveness of small.

rattling sound? pipe opened?

stock steed shld be purr-ing softly, even on high speeds...

the only thing i notice when Im clearing the carbon is the vibration from the handlebar, mayb bcos mine was the early "V" shape type, no risers, straight from the triple clamp.

check on the pipe cover, the higher one, could be the clip's gone.

replacement for that part, I can only find frm USofA, not sure nw whether BS or CA or FJT still has it...

For the plastics, can call Chong Aik/FJT/Eversuccess/Loois if they still have stock OEM. For customized fenders, mayb hv to fabricate. Tink the hv to ask ard if anyone's doing fibreglass, or mayb you can check with madman @ http://www.pinkphantom.com?

I had some rattling problems when I got the bike.. Due to a loose screw that is attached to nothing on the pipe, so I took it off and everything is fine.. Den just the other day something else rattled, but only at a certain rpm.. Dam irritating cos I couldn't find where it came from!! Took me 2 days to find it and it was the wires inside the headlight shell that vibrates.. I got some closed cell foam in the office so I covered the inside of the headlight with it and no more rattling.. I think if u can glue think pcs of foam on the rattling plastic parts it'll solve the problem.. Cos original replacement can be quite ex..

Was cleaning my bike the other day and checked the air filter. Tried taking out the small pc of foam in the intake to see if the bike will perform better with more air flow.. but the low end became very bad so I put the foam back...

The rear braking singing is due to the original brake shoe from Japan.

I have switched to a brand made in 'Italy' (Can't recall the name) at Planet Motors for $38.

No more singing!

Oil filter - $16 (Top grade)

Air Filter - $40 (Original) Eversucess (Lembu Rd)

Handle grips - $6 at LAB (full black rubber ones from GPR, not chrome or metal)

Rider rubber foot pegs - $18 a pair (Honda original) Eversucess

Rear brake shoes - $30 (Vesrah - claims better than original parts) Eversucess

Just to share, I found EO leak at the bottom of the engine. The leak became progressively bad after 3 weeks (the oil patch overnight went from credit card size to foot print size). Checked and found the gasket at the bottom all start gave way, as the previous owner have hit high humps as the rear tyre was badly inflated when I took over.

Entire bottom needs to be removed to change the gasket.

Full change of gasket set means have to change EO and coolant too.

But it was the labour that cost me a bomb and the total bill is $600/-.

The mechanic say steed engine very difficult to work on as it is very low. But he did a very good and specialised job, and even fixed the latch for a pump which also broke off from hump impacts. He KIV other bikes and focused on my Steed and fixed it in less than 4 days. I told him his labour very ex. He says I cannot expect him to put in 4 full days effort for $30/- a day.

He told me it would cost about $700/- if I go to any shop. I trust his skills. But he really fixed the problem...not a single drop of EO leak anymore. And strangely the engine could go from 0 to 120 km/hr more quickly after fixed.

Anyone next time got EO leak directly at bottom of engine, please let me know how bad is the prob and how much you paid to fix the prob.

I also traced a rattling sound when the bike goes above 60 km/hr. After a while I realise its the front number plate vibrating. Replace and tighten new screws and the rattling sound become barely noticable.

make sure your tyres are well inflated...makes cornering smooth and stable, and also clear high humps.

Wow Troy, that's a very costly repair. Maybe it's time for use to customize skid plate for our bikes.

Hope to meet up with you guys someday.. A little difficult for me to find time for such things now as I got a kid already.. But my office is in Yishun so if any Steed riders happens to be at Yishun dam during weekdays pls do sms me..

Isn't it more worth while to change a new head lamp?

Think the price of head lamp sh range +/- $120, any higher is not worth the money unless head lamp broken. :cheeky:
