I felt my front brakes have insufficient stopping power, esp when required to brake at higher speed. Could be some air in the brake hose, or brake fluid insufficient, or even brake fluid too old liao.

I can't tell as the brake fluid reservoir window all blurred from years of rain & shine(the previous owner never did maintain anything at all and left the bike in the open all e way).

Anyone has changed to brembo or any better front braking system?

Should be a good enough reason for you to at least get your brake fluids checked no?

for cruisers, i believe the stock brakes are more than enough for stopping. we dun go sportsbike speeds, we dun need sportbikes braking power.. then again.. a brembo does sound nice ... but.. u will be paying for something you dun really utilize to the fullest.. jus like the young punks u see that boast about having the highest bhp on their crotch rockets but.. never ever for once apprecieated how to use the power properly.

If u really wanna improve the feel of your front end.. steel braided hoses should do the trick. u wanna take it a step further, rebuild your master cylinder by replacing the O rings and the piston. you'll be surprized by the amount of junk u can find clogged up inside your master cylinder.

that should make your brakes work at their optimum.

My front brakes oso won't bite in E-braking but normal braking ok la. Just be careful and all else is ok. :thumb:

Agree with X-ilED, dun really need Brembo, jut get your brake serviced. Brake fluid will deteriorate after sometime, and the o-ring and oil seal will need replacement if worn. Not sure how much the master cylinder repair kit cost tho. Brake pad replacement not ex for our bike so can invest on some better ones if urs is worn out already. Steel brake hose will give u a firmer braking feel, but it's very hard to bleed so if not done properly could be worse den rubber hose.

PS, I saw the wedding convoy at Tampines today(just b4 it rained). Saw X-iled's bike.. Awesome

Anyone changed the front signal light bulb before? Where to get and how much?

One of signal light bulb is probbably gone blow soon...bcoz dimmer than the other. I think bcoz both signal lights are constantly on..so shd change liao.

Bulb should be very cheap.. Less den a dollar.. Can get at Sim Lim or Ah Boy.. Gimme a buzz at 91730603.. We should go do some hunting at scrapyards..]

Just changed the front signal lights.

Got them at $2.50 each from Eversuccess (Lembu Road), so its $5 a pair.

The bulbs are 12V/5W bulbs (double filaments).

When I changed them, then I know what is the problem with the dimmer one.

The dimmer one is a a 12V/8W bulb (from previous owner). I think by putting one 12V/8W, the system could not support the higher watt demand, not to mention its diff from the other signal light bulb (which is the correct 12V/5W).

When i changed both to a pair of new 12V/5W, I solved one problem unexpectedly. My signal light indicator use to be retarded, as it lights up a short while later after I on the signal lights. Sometimes it doesn't even light up when the bike is not moving.

With the correct bulbs now, the indicator reacted immediately and flashes together with the signal lights.

Now I know that it is not old or faulty wiring, but wrong bulb which causes improper lightings.

....Not to mention the new bulbs are brighter. :thumb:

Thats a good suggestion. I did see lots of brake dust there. Maybe servcing the front brakes pistons will just do the trick...

my brake rings were leaking, brake fluid were dripping onto my wind breaker. went down to Thong Sheng change piston for 35.

i was just at ah boy he ran out of stock for front signal lights. not the bulb.

went over to dunlop street service bike/ ask for signal light price. one side 20 dollars. two for forty. not the bulb. it's the entire thing with the holder. so expensive? i should spare sometime go scrapyard. who's going? =)

Swee la Terrible One!

I'm thinking of mounting signal lights under the handle bar's control kits. Any ideas on that? I looked underneath, and there are like no places to screw. I think handle bar clamps would work. Thou.. does Mr Ah Boy sell those?

Oh like the Harley style...Just wondering, will the signal light knock on the fuel tank?

Bros, question on signal light timing. I changed my rear to an aftermkt pair, while my front signals are stock.

The timing is a tad too fast for my liking. From what I gather from another thread, I should get a 'condenser'. How much would this cost n does LAB sell this? If say I change my signal lights again, can I still make use of the same condenser n re-time my signal lights?

On my check at Rosli, he pointed out to me a 'round rubber piece' situated at my carburetor. Told me that the rubber has hardened and can't be tightened any further and is causing air to leak in, not gd for fuel-air intake ratio.

What's this rubber seal and any idea on the cost? Is stripping the carb for $20 worth it.. that's the price quoted to me on top of the $40 for the rubber seals.

Anyone had their plug caps changed? I experienced engine stall last nite when moving off in 1st gear, started twice then engine fires. o_O

This mrg, super duper heavy rain, engine stalls again, tried starting desperately after dont-knw-how-many starts, switched to reverse tank (i tot maybe it was), engine fires. :( Move to the traffic lights about 100m away n stalls again. Tried starting again, after 3 starts, engine fires, moves off with hesitation... :faint:

Sent my steed to my mech, he said 2 of the plug caps faulty, put on a dont-knw-wic-bike caps, ask me to try n c how. Now so far ok...

What a day for my steed... :sian:

Any advise, Steed Bros?

Just change it. Not work saving that few bucks for something that might potentially damage your bike in the long run. Anyway Rosli doesn't over quote. He usually price his stuff by the cost of the parts and a bit for labour. To him, he rather do a good job rather than trying to scrim here and there and end up having recurring problems. He may be slow (cos one man show) but he makes sure your bike is ok before it leaves the shop.

One-man-show... reminds me of my mech, Ah Huat. Slow n steady - good job done at the end of the day. And i really mean End Of The Day...
