hi guys, i would like to know why this steed like got 2 fork, front and back.

What's that springy thing?? Is it fork also??

http://w3.bikepics.com/pics/2008/06/15/bikepics-1321674-800.jpg

this is wat we call a springer fork. forks which utilize vintage technology... rear legs dun move at all.. only the front legs move. damping takes place in the 2 large springs.. the linkage at the bottom connecting the fore and aft forks are called rockers.. when u hit bumps and such, the rockers lock the front legs in place.. allowing them to only move in a up down motion, thereby giving u the damping from the springs...

handling wise.. not so good.. but looks wise.. uber cool... the only other fork that can exceed its uber coolnes is a girder.. haha..

check out RIOT's Den for some pics of a modified steed springer.. and another springer fork which i fabricated from scratch. :cheeky:

It's a Springer but i reckon it to be heavier at the nose too...

How time flies...

Big is certainly a warning but small can be downright scary! Never underestimate the effectiveness of small.

no la.. its not "not safe"... when i said handling, i meant the ride itself... the damping effect wont be as good as modern telescopic forks. your ride will be more bumpy as compared... bike will still be safe if u keep the rake and trail in check..

That's the con.. Pro is that this type of front suspension is almost maintenance free.. Saves you a lot of money rebuilding fork every few years..

Today I almost lost control of my Steed.

Going up ECP towards Keppel Road from Ophir Road. Tot open throttle to go up slope...skali my Steed did have any aceleration lag and straight away went up to 100km/hr while on an upslope bend...nearby 'kissed' a slow climbing lorry when I managed to swerve to the next lane...I think I nearly **** my pants...(*_*)...phew...glad I am fine to post right now...

Hi Guys

My Neutral light a bit faulty liao.

Start to disappear more and more often.

Sometime dun light up when I turn on the ignition and can't start until I sit on my bike and kick up the side stand (side stand down safety feature still works).

It does not affect the bike performance...but can't start the bike first to let it idle while wearing helmet...

Any one fixed the Neutral light before?

I had this same problem b4. It's the side stand switch faulty. Think my mech spray some oil on the switch and it work till now.

There's a sensor that's faulty. Not sure where the sensor is for Steeds by for my ex sportster, it was all the way inside the gear box. Was a beep getting to it. Or it could be your neutral light bulbs has blown or the connection is just loose. Check that first. If so, it'll save you a lot of trouble and money.

Happy new year guys!

Oh ya forgot to mention that I change the rubber sprocket damper thingy inside the hub the other day. The old ones are really worn out already. OEM ones cost $25 a set.

Okay dudes,

Had my exhaust 'modded' via extract & cut mtd at f*r*t m*tor @ ubi industrial area for $180.

- Sound >> much louder than my original sound. I suspect my pipe is really too quiet. I borrowed a stock pipe as T-loan while they mod mine, and immediately, it sounded 2x louder. In all sound has a moderate tut-tut-tut sound when moving off. Nothing to shout abt. Compared to a harley, it pales of course. I am happy with the volume. Abt 1/3 a loud harley's.

- FC >> No change in FC.

- Drag >> acceleration drag is only visible from 60km/h onwards. esp uphill. with a slight drag compared to before.

As a note, I would recommend bros who want to 'increase their pipe volume' at r****'s. He will reco a cheaper 'knock the muff' method. He also mentioned adding 'fiberglass' for a bass-ier sound.
