Hi all,

Need all your experience and expertise.

I had read through this thread and might have miss out some point, pardon me if I ask some repeated questions.

I am new to steed. Know nothing about it.However I bought a 2nd 13yr old steed.

1) I want to bring to a shop to check anything wrong. I know this thread was toking abt ROSLI, but I am not very comfortable to leave the bike there for him to repair and stuff. I am more comfortable with AH CHONG. Any1 have any experience with planet on this? or any advise for me?

2) This thread nv tok much abt side boxes. May I know any where I could get side box for steed? not GIVI? I heard of First Motor but I guess thats the last choice as customise box are expensive. Anywhere with more choices for side box.Tot of saddle bags but heard that they will get mouldy after sometime and over time will crack and stuff.

3) I am thinking of a crash bar. Any1 have experience with crash bar?

4) I wish to learn more abt my bike, any event coming up for me to join?

I guess thats all for now. THANKS BRO! Please help me.. :):cheeky:

1) Ah Chong & Rosli's fine, bt overall, its up to you who you are comfortable with on your bike.

Bear in mind, most of Steed's OEM spare parts are already OOP & or obsolete.

& may have to order online if its really desperate.

2) What side box you are looking at?

Currently in sillypore, only Givi is the common brand here you can find, support for spares are also within reach.

There's also H & B, that unless you dont mind the price, the quality's just maybe justify the price.

The more different & sleeker design would be Nonfango, which has already been long extinct as no one here bring in anymore.

Bear in mind, irregardless of which model, the rear signal indicators have to relocate further back, and the mounting points are different for each model.

The best mounting rack I'd found, is from 5 Stars, but sadly, they are also obsolete.

3) ME! & Im selling mine!!

Got some aftermarket & OEM parts for sale too! :D

Link: Steed accessories for sale.

4) What you need to know? I try to help if I can lah.

Cheers!

My friend overhauled his Shadow 400 there and Ah Chong did an amazing job. One of the better, honest shops out there IMO

Normal bike also. 10k Oil Filter, 20k Air Filter. Or less, depending on how often you do a change. I try to do mine every 3-5000km. The normal guide is every 2 engine oil change, 1 oil filter change. Every 2 oil filter change, 1 air filter change. All bike's servcing about the same la. Just a bit more or a bit less. Chain bikes have to worry about chain and sprocket, more maintenance, less cost. Shaft got shaft oil, less maintenance, more cost. Scooters and Harleys got belts and rollers etc. Same same. :cheeky:

You can request from Rosli. Most of the time he keeps the bikes inside, unless it's the condemn, many many years never come collect kinda bikes. Why need to leave there so long? One day get it done and over with la.

U r rite too. But one thing... that auto gear box better dont give way. Once give way... $$$ fly away. So as to say more ex to overhaul a auto gear box than a manual gearbox. Anyway, manual gearbox only need to change clutch plates.

For auto Vespa belt change interval accoring to manual is 12k.. Last time I used to ride a Burgman 400, Manual says belt change interval is 30k I think most of us drag till 35-40k.. Auto scoot Jap bikes are better, but more ex also..

I don't think I'll be getting that cos I still prefer 2stroke Vespa. But my wife can't stand the vibration.

I just met Mepkoh last night. He told me he left his Steed with Ah Chong and the rectifier got stolen.. Den Ah Chong told him to change lots of parts but problem still not solved.. End up going to Rosli to get it fixed, faulty CDI.. Wasted quite a bit of money to change non faulty parts at Planet..

Depends what kind of makeover you want.. Minor or extreme makeover.. If it's quite a minor mod it's always better if you can DIY your own mods.. Re-spray wise I was quoted by Toe spray $250 for single colour, but got to remove the fenders and tank yourself.. If you want to go extreme and don't want to get your hands dirty, look for this guy.. He will make your wildest dream come true.. Haha
