Hi TS, These are in very close proximity to 100K. Ever considered them? Go test drive the scirocco. I heard it's very different.

I've heard before that the difference between the reported power of the cars between Asian and Continenal makes are that Asian makes report power on crank. While Continental makes report power on wheel. Not sure how true is this though.

Integra or Rx8 :D

Go for the 2009 STI bro... With great power comes great price tag.

Great price tag refers to an attractive price tag. But you know it yourself. don't expect anyone to pity you in a production STI if you are caught in a massive 2 hour jam on the causeway or PIE with accident vehicle yet to be towed away. But you are fit, strong and long. You can take it.

The sirocco though its only 1.4 with a little help of forced induction, its an ok drive for a budget car. i was more impressed with the feel than with the golf.

memory seats, leather interior. goood quality finishing.

if i remember correctly it comes std with 17" rims.

then u can always improve the performance slightly with a larger a/r sized turbo n larger cooler and maybe run 1 bar? :)

But somehow I am disappointed with the new 1.4TSI. The previous 1.4TSI (motorcode: BLG) has 170bhp and the 6 speed DSG. The current 1.4TSI works with 160hp (motorcode: CAVD) and the 7 speed DSG.

Apart from the staggering reduction of 10hp, there is tremendous difference in the 2 gearboxes.

The DSG6 has a dual wet clutch powered by Borg Warner developed way back in 2003 that uses oil pressure to actuate the pistons for engagement and disengagement of the twin clutches. Kupplung1 for odd and kupplung2 for even gears. The gearbox uses the 2 countershafts to house the different gears to achieve different gear ratios when the synchronizers engages the gears. As the Borg Warner DSG6 uses the oil pressure to actuate the pistons for engagement. The clamp load simply can be adjusted by increasing the oil pressure to the maximum of 350Nm. This clutch system is also known as DQ250 for VW staffs. It has a 186mm diameter and caters to 350Nm and 220kW(295hp) The hydraulic oil that lubricates and operates the actuation is the same ATF circuit and has 6.5L of this oil in total. With this hydraulic actuation, there is no need to call for a safety factor as commonly used in the common diaphragm spring and coil spring clutches.

There is a special formula to calculate clutch forces. jB! Remember it?

The DSG 7 developed by LuK on the other hand unfortunately uses a dry clutch. With more drive shafts, although it contains the size due to more gears, the transmission is only capable of transmitting only 250Nm and taking on 125kW (170hp) The 1.4TSI is already 240Nm. What room is left for modification? Go for the wet clutch DSG6. It comes with the 2.0TSI Golf 6 and Scirocco. It’s a whole lot more efficient if we were to play with the techie stuffs.

Err I don't know how to read english MS

Tested the new Golf GTi yesterday, :thumb:

WRONG!!! You need to be emotional and sound retarded. "oooo... ang more lim peh buey heow tia..."

If I need to entertain clients by drinking, you'd better stand by. I will pay for your cab fare. But don't forget what you said beating valiantly on your well endowed chest.

The merits of twin clutch is indeed great right? 10 laps down the race track with a clutch pedalled transmission, fatigue will set in and the twin clutch gearboxes will show how how good it is to drive aided by technology. Of course, that's tantamount to cheating. ZF developed a few types of dopplekupplunggetriebe that can transmit up to 1000Nm of torque. Significantly, dramatically higher than the one you drove on yesterday; Borg Warner Twin Clutch in the DSG6.

for run of the mill passenger cars, 10hp is no biggie.

VeeDub has given it an extra cog for a reason right? :)

for pure experiment sake, my mechanics have pushed out nearly 700nm at the wheels with a stock gearbox and double plated clutch, I believe nothing more. for a boring plain base 200hp 4 wheeler, I had no complains, 20,000km later of abuse, still no issues with the syncros. :)

For the DSG6? Did you check the transmission oil colour?
