hi guys. let's say i've found a motorshop that would loan me the full amount to buy a bike from a private seller (~3k) but they told me that i'll have to fork out the insurance myself (which means i can't loan machine price + insurance). is it possible i buy the bike first but do not apply for insurance. which means i own the bike, but i can't ride it because i've no insurance. i plan to buy the insurance at a later date because i do't have the cash yet.

they charge me on the current premium price divide by 365 days multiply by 13 days lo..

den they issue me another cert for that 13 days.. i did that juz to renew my road tax.. :sian:

and after dat i switch to NTUC due to the cheaper premium..

at that time, mitsui quote me over $500 for my ver S for 3rd party.. the premium for the current period is higher than the previous period even with NCD included.. so i decided it's not worth it especially NTUC is quoting me $318 nett..

anyway, back to ur qn, i paid around $15+ for 13 days worth of insurance

i have enough for monthly installment, fuel, servicing etc. but i didn't save in the past. so forking out 1.5k at short notice is quite difficult.

dun think its possibly. cos most probably after u take down the bike from the private seller, the seller would terminate his current insurance to get his rebate. and according to lta, every vehicle registered in singapore must have insurance.

Guys need to knw where to renew mitsui insuance???

Is it at hong leong building near lau pa sat?

I dun wan go to bike shop renew insurance leceh scared they eat my money!

Btw I intend to upgrade to 2A bike.

Can i get my refund back?Coz thinking of changing bike. [/b]

not the one in hong leong, they don't do renewal there. your ins cert shd have wrote the underwriting agency.

go there. bike shop sure eat your $$. your refunded ins should be 100% of unused, will be used to offset your new premium.

(this post is so long ago i dont know if it helps haha)

this one more recent. haha.

The ruling by LTA is like this:

YOU MUST HAVE VALID INSURANCE FOR THAT PARTICULAR MOTORCYLE TO EFFECT A TRANSFER. buyer no insurance = seller cannot transfer

Riders are naturally more daring then Drivers , cause Riders are constantly facing danger on the road.

nope, each insurance is unique to the rider and bike... if you need to change a rider or bike, you have to get another insurance...

but for rider, you can add another rider so a insurance can have max of 2 riders...
