Hmm..this is kinda strange about NTUC online quotation.

You see, I'm riding a 125cc Daelim bike and the 1st party quotation is slightly higher than 125cc Honda bike?? Is it becoz less people riding lousy Daelim brand or what?

Here the quote I received for both bike which i purposely do a comparison.

Dealim bike:

Our motor quotation is:

Cover Type: Comprehensive

Insured's Age: 28 to 30

Driving Experience: 1 to 2 Years

Capacity: 100 to 299cc

No of Riders: Less than 2

Usage: Private Bike

Claims Experience: Nil

Excess: S$

GST is absorbed by NTUC Income

Gross Premium: S$798

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Honda bike:

hi, i think its becoz of the price of the original authenticate parts. Daelim parts are not as common as Honda's and the price of the bike is definitely not cheaper than honda's too.

Ok, it's that time of the year again; and I'm looking for an insurance company that can sell me affordable insurance. There seems to be only three companies now: AIG, Income and Mitsui.

Mitsui quoted me close to $1000

Income quoted me $800+

AIG quoted me $600+

I have my reservations about choosing AIG based on its low premiums though, as I've heard that it's exceedingly difficult to make a claim when you need to. Has anyone got any experiences to share about AIG/Income/Mitsui prices and claim experiences?

Are there any other insurance companies out there that will insure motorcycles?

Every user of a motor vehicle in Singapore must have in force an insurance policy with provides him or her with indemnity for legal liabilities arising out of death of bodily injuries in connection with the use of motor vehicle on the road. It is illegal to drive or be in charge of a vehicle on a public road without a Motor Insurance policy.

The law which governs compulsory Third Party Insurance for death and bodily injuries is the Motor Vehicles (Third Party riak and Compensation) Act 1980. the insurance as required under this Act must provide indemnity for:

a. death or bodily injuries of a third party up to an unlimited amount; and

b. rider's legal liability towards their pillion.

In accordance with the Act, a policy must be taken up with an approved insurer in Singapore and a Certificate of Insurance must be obtained from the insurance, otherwise the insurance policy purchased shall be of no effect.

There are three types of insurance covers available in the market.

a. Third party only (also know as 3rd party for motordiam)

This cover provides indemnity for:

1. death or bodily injuries to third parties and/or bodily injuries only to third parties and/or pillion.

2. damage to third party's property.

b. Third party, fire & theft (also know as 2nd party for motordiam)

1. death or bodily injuries to third parties and/or bodily injuries only to third parties and/or pillion.

2. damage to third party's property.

3. loss of or damage to the insured's vehicle due to fire or theft.

c. Comprehensive (also know as 1st party for motordiam)

1. death or bodily injuries to third parties and/or bodily injuries only to third parties and/or pillion.

2. damage to third party's property.

3. loss of or damage to the insured's vehicle due to fire or theft.

4. accidental and malicious damage to the insured vehicle.

hi ,

I would like to know if there is anything ,called all rider insurance meaning any one can ride the bike and be covered.

Also i have a friend who wants to borrow me his bike for abt 3 mths or so until i get a new bike, the thing is that, is it necessary to get an insurance for riding this bike alone or could i be placed as a sub rider for his insurance.Further more what is the procedure to be listed as the subrider,do i have to pay anything .If than how much would it cost?

Also is it possible to just borrow his bike for the 3mths without insurance, but the roadtax and coe still valid. Meaning that is it possible that Any one can ride on the road without insurance but unless kena roadblock or stopped by ROV>There must be some loop hole in the law.

As the last roar of the engines fade, and the thin wisps of smoke clear into the night all that remain of that dream are a faded picture and a lonely rider in the dying light......Colin Cheong

Unless ur no longer on instalment then most prob ur on your own in dealing with ur ins, rd tax etc....Come to thnk of it i used to do those myself but jus pay extra few dollars and the shop settle for you everthng.Depends on shop though.I did mine slightly less than a week.Save time in joining the queue, and hassle of travelling .Cheers!
