Hi,

I just removed the exahust mufflers from my steed 400 and now it is pretty close to harley sound and it sounds like a much much bigger bike....

My question is will removing the muffler hurt my bike in any way!?

What are the advantages/disadvantages of this move?

Thanks in advance

go and see ur mekanik n ask him if u need to do any adjustment on ur valves and carburetors.

No harm asking.

Cause w/o mufflers the exhaust flow is more thus ur enjin valve timings maybe out.

How do I know if the valves are out of timing without a mechanic? the bike runs perfectly with no backfire and without anything unusual except for the LOUD NOISE that I like:) :)

Don't use realise that you have lost some low end performance ?

There will not be any damage to your bike engine but technically you should increase your jettings.

Thanks for all the replies, i posted this here and on another forum, basically i got the same answers; that i need to tune the bike for that, since i will be changing the bike in max 4 month with something bigger, i dont need to deal with any troubles with the bike now, so i put them on again :):)

you have a nice ride :D

Always ride safely and defensively.

Repair bike cheap and fast,

Repair body expensive and slow.

Likely that ur low end torque will suffer if u dont increase the jettings.

This normally happends when exhaust flow is faster & no tuning is done.
