ah pek. How's the difference between rebuild and just add nitro gas while rebuild (est $240) and nitro ( $40)? Any advice?

A rebuild involves a lot more work on the shock. If done by David, it includes completely stripping the shocks, reconditioning and removing any rust and making it smooth, adding of a spacer to stiffen the spring, and a refill. Feels like new. A recharge of gas would not come close if your shocks are already too soft.

This is my layman understanding and feel of my shocks before and after the rebuild.

Currently riding s4 vtech 1 using moriwaki full system(shorty) and my middle part of the fs is quite low(as in near the road already) due to its design. my belly hv been touching humps when i ride over it even if i stand up and slowly crossing the hump. wanted to change to gazi rear shocks but dunno about the review of the shocks or should i service it? if servicing it should i change spring? coz i heard adding spacers will affect its stability. need advise from lao jiao. BADLY IN NEED OF HELP!!!!! thanks alot =)

If you have read/know, the Mori Shorty's mid-section is lower than anything other FS exhuast.

Henceforth, it'll usually scrap those damn high humps.

Mine's already like sh!t.

The only way is to REALLY go slow over the humps.

I do it together with my left leg deployed down to tilt the bike, slightly.

Also, make sure yr tires pressure are always kept checked, it helps as when they're sufficiently pumped, it'll also help to elevate the bike higher.

This is the best combination I can do to prevent the mid-pipe being more scratched..

Assuming your rear shock's still OEM Showas, try setting the pre-load to the hardest, it may not prevent you frm hitting the humps, but still at least can minimise the rear frm soaking in the shock too much.

However, if the shock's have seen it haydays, best is bring to gt it re-furbished.

I'd done mine @ David's recently, however, it still doesnt prevents me frm hitting those humps.

Not saying that even after servicing the shocks are bad or not enough, its just that the pipe itself is too low than others.

Its either I live with it, or change it.

I choose the former. Cos its simply unique. :thumb:

& if u ask me about the aftermarket's shocks, other than Ohlins or WP, I wont even be looking others.. :p

& no, Im no lao jiao.. ;)

Hey I have shorty too and like Kev's said it's unique and wouldn't think of changing it. I know what you mean about idle and low rpm which is why I want to do the air filter mod this shorty user had done on you tube. Have also posted this in the Moriwaki thread.

Just like you I learnt this the hard way and since then make sure I go over speedhumps or go down steep driveways slowly with care with feet near the ground. Never think of mounting gutters anymore. Bad gutters. :thumb::)

Hello Bros, wanna ask for your opinions. I'm on gazi shocks as I didnt check properly before I purchased the bike from bikeshop 3 yrs ago. Now, My shocks rabak already. So, should I get a 2nd hand showa or should I just change to a brand new YSS suspension. I'm going to use the bike for another 2 - 3 yrs. Awaiting for your feedbacks bros. Thanks

When I feel sad, I stop being sad and be awesome instead. True story. Hehe :thumb:

Here's my point of view:

If you buy brand new YSS:

It can last you about 2years plus before it leaks. And by the time you wanna sell to bikeshop, they will take your bike lesser cus no original showa shocks.

If you buy 2nd hand showa:

The least you could do is rebuild it for $240 and can last you more than 4-5years. Some more got resale value.

I'm not condemning YSS, but based on my past experience, buying a 2nd hand showa would be my choice. = )

Thanks bro for your opinions. Hmm. YSS will cost me $320. 2nd hand showa is $450 + $240 rebuild = $690. Hmmmm..

Hi Bros,

How do you distinguish a fake showa from a real one. What are the key components I have to look at? Please enlighten me. I wanna make sure so I will not get conned :)

Why not just rebuild your current shocks?
