Rat bike - A motorcycle not necessarily kept in pristine condition, often painted matt black. Minimal maintenance and mismatched parts often used.

what about maintenance ?

a small bike only need 1/2 spark plug and 1litre of engine oil. parts are dirt-cheap too.

i wouldn't ride a class 2 bike if i am the threadstarter who travel 100km/day.

he will need to service the bike like every 2 months?

TS, never forget about the maintenance.

a good sticky 190 or 180 size tyre is not cheap. they wear off quite fast too.

what if you kena nails/pointed objects on one of the day. (100km/day is quite a lot)

don't forget you need more bottles of engine oil. (also not recommended to use lousy/cheap EO due to your high mileage. )

more spark plugs. (4 times more than a 2B bike)

wear and tear stuffs like chain/sprockets, brake pads etc.

petrol usage/fuel consumption is important.

but don't forget to take all these into account.

Do they sale Hyosung Comet 250 (Naza Blade 250 in Malaysia) in SG? If there is, it could be another choice that you can look at. I'm using mine for daily commuting to and fro work since August 06.. And I normally get between 340 - 360 km for every full tank top up which is around 14 liters. In fact last week I went easy with the throttle and managed to get 390 km on the tank.

Bro, all bikes got pros and cons. Judging from your needs, i recommend Piaggio x8. Im using it for work as i travel to locations too. Here are my reason:

1. Point A to point B bike

2. Fast and easy. Ride and go. Reach and park coz its an Auto bike

3. Traffic jam u wont go tired coz no gears and clutch.

4. FC for me is 28km/l. Travelling at 90km/hr Full tank use till near Empty = 300km

5. Big underseat storage to put your bag and helmet plus got boot for storage.( dont have to carry helmet and find seats or extra chair to place helmet. and your bag can put inside. So pillion and u enjoy free hands ride.)

6. Handling is great.

7. Overall, good street bike to use especially in singapore with busy traffic during office hr, i wont get tired as no gears.

So this are the reason that i recommend u to get this bike. Paggio x8 200cc.

hi there,

think bajaj pulsar will fit the bill...really..

Safe (reasonable power and control):

it is considered "big" for a 2B bike..not wobbly on the expressways unless u have really strong winds..

Reliable (starts everytime, don't break down easily):

I have not experienced any breakdowns so far (pray!)

Fuel economy (more than 25km/litre)

i have gotten 41-43 km per litre...for 9400km, my average is abt 41.5km/litre...(i note down each time i pump so my figures are quite accurate)

Low maintenance

except for running in and within 1st 10000km, i have been there mainly to change eo or replaced fused bulbs...didnt spent anything extra..every 5000km requires servicing...so ur case can tahan abt 1 .5 mths

yup..my 2 cents worth

most piaggio scooters are good for the ride.

EO servicing is at 5000km interval... but full servicing is at 12000.

if TS is riding 100km per day. every 4 months must do 1 full servicing.

thats 3 times a year.. which means.. 700bucks.

cannot reccomend scooter... lol..

My vote will be an old dragstar. V-twin gives good performance, consumption is decent, shaft has no maintenance. Can flat foot and posture is great for 100 km per day.

Super4 comes very close but loses out cos' of chain maintenance.

Pulsar would next choice for 2B bikes.

If speed and load carrying is not of the essence then a kup would be great, but bear in mind need to regularly fill small tank.

My personal choice is a VXR200 Runner. Belt, decent consumption, can hit 100 km/h no problem. But belt needs change every 10000 km.

Cheers

Bajaj would definitely go for you... But if you really intend to get a bike with a bit more power and looks with low maintenance, go for the DRZ400SM. SM bikes are not really that high IMO. Power wise, thumbs up. You can even have a medium size box fixed on the tail for your barang2...

does 180 bajaj pulsar take in 2T?

nope its a 4 stroke bike so 2T is not needed. you can visit Universal Motors at Bukit Merah for more info and an honest quote with no added cost. look for David.

why not consider a p200? added 20cc but its heavier than p180 so that power probably offset. i'm getting consistently 43km/L on my bajaj pulsar 200, although i only push my bike on and off. not a speedster :)

enjoy the ride not the destination :thumb:

well i might you might want to to look up the cbx 250. It is not everyone's cuppa tea but it is stable 100 to 130kph on highways and return 20-30km/l? Only prob is that it is a uncommon bike. Only seen it a few times in singapore which means buying and selling is an issue. But if u decide to keep it long term , it has great reviews. Something like a ybr but 2ice the power but not half the consumption ^^
