Hi guys. Getting my 2B soon. Was browsing around for a sporty looking 2B bike or something along the lines of a naked bikes... Is it worth to get an expensive 2B bike then sell off and get a 2A bike later on? Will the shops take it in with higher price?

Assuming I go with installments...

you're looking to profit a bike over one year? good luck.

the only way to profit off a bike is to buy one underpriced and then sell it overpriced. it doesnt matter sports or cheap or expensive. buy underpriced and sell overpriced equals profit.

typically only shops have the smarts to pull it off because being in the business they have a direct feel of the market and have a good sense of wat price a bike can sell off for.

for ordinary owner, my advice is, accept the fact that when u buy a bike, money is burnt.

It's true: it's more fun to ride a slow bike fast than to ride a fast bike slow. Admittedly, though... It is MOST fun to ride a fast bike fast!

Totally agree. You should understand that buying a bike is a liability.

The fact that motor vehicles depreciate with no revaluation like other property (Land especially) makes it the worst possible thing to want to invest in.

Maybe you could buy an expensive bike, and trade it in for a new bike later without paying as much, like a savings account. Except this savings account somehow disappears bit by bit every year.

And it's worse with expensive bikes because their yearly depreciation is likely to be higher than cheap kups.

Pray that COE goes up to >10k, then you can sell your bike for a profit.

if your target is 2A or 2, then choose the minimum required 2B for the first year.

the bike itself will guarantee to depreciate. the COE component may earn you something if it keeps rising but that's irrelevant to the bike.

For your first bike, just buy a cheap reliable bike. You will very likely drop the bike due to inexperience, and I'm sure your heart will feel the pain if it was a brand new expensive first hand bike.

When you get your 2A, you can buy a newer bike, though due to high COE, I'll still advise you to buy a used 1-2 year old 2A bike in very good condition with low mileage instead of brand new. Brand new 2A bikes are going for around 20K, which is a ridiculous price.

agree with you, i have 'accidentally' dropped my bike many times especially the first year of riding.
