do not try to brake too hard using rear brake as u r not riding sp anymore,

it won't skid nicely if u brake too hard.

if u clutch in n brake too hard, most prob u will fishtail on a wet ground.

thats wad i experienced when i 1st rode my s4 also.

try checking brake pads 1st above anything else

There is nothing wrong with your rear brakes. It is designed to work together with the front brakes actually. So it'll feel like it's inadequate when used alone. Another reason is, if the rear brakes were designed to provide a lot of braking force, then it'll be easy to lock up the rear tire when the road traction is limited/reduced.

Of course if you stand up and use a lot of force on the rear brake pedal, it'll lock up your rear brakes.

If you suspect your rear brake is damaged, you can try checking with your friends' S4?

i agree that S4 rear brake is very weak. coz on slope, one has to press down the rear brake (used alone w/o front brake) quite abit in order for the bike to not roll back. Last time when riding phantom press down abit can liaoz.

spray lub at the brake pump will do the trick. esp for older bikes. brake pump aged or brake fluid air lock will oso cause the rear brake to b unsensitive.
