Been going to planet for all my maintenance but after CNY he suddenly has a lot of big bikes in with huge jobs, went twice but couldnt get my bike done. I even went at 10am but there was already a queue and some bikes were dismantled, then he complained to me his workers never go to work or something.

I don't really want to wait til my bike breaks down before repairing so i'm looking for another shop, there's a weird clicking noise at slow speed from my spark. This happened after chong adjusted my rear wheel back to "tighten" my chain. Also, my rear brake isn't very strong either but i'm not sure if it's brake wear, i told chong and he tightened my brake cable but the braking strength is still weak.

Give this shop a miss. If they cannot cope, you think they will able to give quality repairs?

Did he checked on your bike despite being busy?

I respect this shop a lot... if they cannot do, they will chase u away. The quality of repairs concern may come fm their new workers.. but I don't mind being served by them, cos they need to practise to get better.

Something similar happened to me before too. Seems like he is quite popular because of his honesty and experience.

One saturday morning went down to his shop to do standard servicing change oil and spark plug. At the time i dont know how to do it myself yet. But i already had my own oil and spark plug with me just needed boss help to change.

In the end he said way too busy so he handed me the tools gave me some verbal instructions then ask me to change myself lol.

In the end i asked him how much, he said free coz he never actually help me. o do anything lol.

That's really nice of them! Typically, shops don't like to lend tools for free because, 1) they don't get to make money. 2) the tool may actually get lost.

Whatever it is, it aint necessary to tell anyone to stop patronize any particular shop.

And can you confirm that you-bhp provides quality service to every single customer ever since your boss started this business.

I have to agree with you on this...I was trouble shooting a problem on my bike which could be of two causes...so he help me to narrow it down to one....at least from there if he is bz i can either go other workshops with my specific problem and not get bounced around when at other workshops.....

some workshops love to assist you to change parts which is not necessary or nothing to do with the problem you have.....

at least ah chong is honest...some other bike shops will say the bike got other problems which got nothing to do with the problems im having......

I ride at 70km/hr only...please please dont blow2 at me or overtake me dangerously....wait i change into Incredible Hulk n dont know why my little baby bike will always be ahead of u if u do that

Yes, I too like going to planet cos Uncle Chong is very experienced & knowlegable with good wormanship & reasonable pricing. Have to agree not easy sometimes to get things done on a wanted day cos of the big queue or he can get it done same day but must wait a long time.

I could be wrong of course, but i do hv a suspicion also that he has this mentality towards old 2b bikes - old bike no need to spend so much until tip top. If the part still can use just bear with the inconvenience/discomfort cos 1 yr later it will be upgraded. Change unless really bo pian.

eg my sp had a gear or clutch problem - always tend to get jammed in 2nd gear. After some effort only can get 3rd gear onwards. Brought the bike to him, he said clutch plates stuck. He only loosened clutch cable foc. He told me clutch replacement cost too much. But that remedy was very short term cos the jammed gears resurfaced after 2-3 days.

So 1 day when in JB, i found Tai Seng Kooi Motorsports. Now Mr Tai was a former local & regional gp winner when younger. So when I told him my problem he told me clutch plates stuck & promptly had it changed. He took the bike out for a test run & came back & said my clutch springs hv gone soft & reopened everything. Even showed me the stiffness diff betn old & new springs. So 1 year on & no problems at all.

But after having my full service with Tai Seng Kooi, i suspect that he has a racer's mentality - bike must always be running tip top condition. Very ngiao. Whatever not optimal condition must change. But admittedly altho may spend more but bike really does feel good!

So nowadays for routine repairs & servicing I go to planet. But major works i go to Tai Seng Kooi. Exchange rates also make things a good deal. last full service - change oil, plug, polish piston & block, new piston, rings & bearings - RM478.
