Let's discuss about Atom here.

 

i just got it last weekend, still haven't explore it fully.

So far so good, but the speed is abit slow although spec is 416mhz.

May be need some ROM update path, it is new launch for WM5, surely lots of bugs.

 

so far installed 2 softwares, one is ISmap and another is ISmap & Trans Magic Button 2.0.

 

Both are freeware and very useful.

 

ISmap is a must have for all bikers.

Oledi got Atom when I'm still trying to save for a Dopod 900, allegedly the most powerful PDA SmartPhone rite now.

Atom is lacking in some features compared to Mini rite?Too bad XDA Exec is not coming.

no lah, i'm not rich, i never use any phone cost more than $100 in my whole life, this is my first damn expensive phone... :giddy:

 

i dunno about mini, after compare the spec, i go for Atom because it has wireless wifi built in, 2mega pixel camera, faster CPU speed, and many more, but it uses the new WM5, so still got abit of bug and runnign slower than a mini & 818

 

waiting for the new ROM update from O2... O2 said will release by end of Feb, just hope so loh...

 

Dopod 900 got keyboard, too big for my liking, cannot put inside my jeans...

i consider buying atom, mini and dopod 818, end up buying atom.

 

the software for PDA is quite expensive, and mini SD not cheap though, still considering getting 512md or 1gb...

honestly, i've never like Atom ever since it's on display on Sitex.

never trust a Quanta product, e engieering sample of Atom tat landed into my hand really disappoint mi lots.

 

e 1st time i recevied a leaflet of Atom, it stated CLEARLY 262k display.

but when i recevied e sample, i ask abt it.

was told onli 262k supporting, on display is 65k.

 

another issue is e O2 pre-install programs in e phone.

cannot remove them, waste my storage area.

 

another thing is, on their most recent leaflets.

Intel PXA 27x 416.

i suppose it's a 272, hopefully.

416 mhz even slower than a TI omap 850.

 

i still prefer my previous IIs than Atom.

sorrie Sev for my comments, since u oreadi got 1, hopefully new upgrades will make it betta.

how you able to get a sample before it is released to public?

 

i also dunno why a 416mhz chip will slower than the TI 196mhz chip... must be some program bug inside, ROM updates urgently needed...

for cheap memory cards, go to active photos in SLS. either 4th or 5th floor ah, rite next to the escalator

I guess a one of tI guess Atom is one of the limited PDA with a WiFi & Camera and a radio as well if not mistaken the 1Gb mini SD cost ar $115 @ SLQ.

BTW, CNET gaev review on Atom yesterday, 8/10, higher than DOPOD 900.

But user review is bad about 6.5/10.

 

Atom is still too raw, may be need to wait abit longer to let it stable before purchasing it.

 

BTW, the built in WIFI is superb, i can surf net during my lecture, haha... :faint:

i've just tried the speakers... it totally sucks..

was playing some hard trance and eminem, and omfg...

do they have speakers upgrade?

the speaker got some cracking noise when you open fully, try adjust the equalizer see any help?

how in the blue hell did i think that equalizer is just there for show, in reality, it does work!!! my sound is so much better now! Thanks Sev.

i'm using my atom now in NTU, in LT5. the built in wifi in atom is superb, no disconnect problem.

holy shito!didnt noe got quite a few numbers owning an atom..

 

got my ard last week n had a week of hell..the damn atom really test my patience..loading is damn slow,always lagging,always hang,damn camera took 14 secs to load up!!feel like crying man..

 

finally went to the o2 service centre to make sume enquiries n they say its sum software problems..unshockingly,there were others there returning the atoms..wat does dat say people?!?!?haiyah..heartpain..but luckily its juz a software problem..they update my atom n its slightly better now..n i hope they find the answers to solve the problems asap..

 

Tried using the magic button before but it hangs quite a number of times when i used it..dat was before my atom went to service..havent tried it out now..well hope u guys can share ur problems/ideas/ataom stuffs wif me!

mine has no prob so far. and i will make sure it stays that way.

anyway, the equalizer thing really pisses me. i set to "rap" cause it is all eminem in my atom. and when someone calls in. gawd, no way i can hear the phone ringing, it was wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too soft. anyway, it took me a day to realise that equalizer is the cause. i've set it to off now.

another things i noticed was when you use Atom for longer time and it gets heated up, it respone better... :faint:
