Possible,

You can still buy the insurance and transfer the ownership to you even if you don't have the license.

LTA doesn't require you to possess a license to own a vehicle under your name. They only require you to have a valid insurance under your name covering the enitre period of road tax.

Insuurance company allows you to buy Insurance under your name even if you dun have the license. You just have to declare that you dun own a license and become a non rider. Add a sub rider and declare him as a rider.

NTUC ins confirm can. If you have a valid 2b license, the premium will follow your age or your subrider whichever is higher. If you dun have a bike license at all, the premium will follow your sub rider age. You will have to declare when u get your 2A and you will need to top up premium if ur premium is higher after getting ur 2A ( premium pro rated)

Call up LTA and ur insurance company to find out more.

i bought my super 4 6 months b4 my license..

i had to lay it up

wat it means is u declared the bike no usable with no need to pay insurance and road tax..

go to lta to lay up your bike.

it doesnt make sense to pay insurance when u are not using it..

lay up fees is $5

to begin riding once u get ur license.

u need to tow the bike to inspection

1) send bike for inspection $18

2) buy insurance $ depends on bike

3) un-lay ur bike and buy road tax. $ depends on bike

while its holding at the place u stated, do not ride the bike.. if u get caught.. its a very serious offence

is it really advisable to do so? unless it is a really good deal

but then again... good deals are always ard... jux need to have the patience & effort to search for it

the cons of buying a bike without a valid license... there is always the temptation of taking it out on the road...

beware becoz even starting the bike will cost u whatever license u have on hand

think thrice fellow biker

hmm... but why buy 1st only to leave it there?

it may have been a good deal at the point of time when u paid for it... but good deals are always popping up round the corners

perhaps u paid a good price to park the bike beside ur S4 now

but maybe when u get ur class 2 license there is an even better deal?

paying a lower price to ride it... not jux to admire it

wouldn't it have defeated the purpose of making an early purchase?

its not really a super gd deal... its a rare deal i would say... i want it so much tat i dun mind payin for the xtra mth for insurance n rd tax n parking... those who hav all the license class oredi but stil owned 2-3bikes... y do they do so then???

i agree tat gd deals are everywea... but once u see 1 if u dun grab n next 1 not gonna comes so soon.. then regret???

mayb for those bike models tat are popular, then much easier to wait for another deal bah...

i see... well it is ultimately personal preference

to those who wishes to do so... do NOT succumb to temptation becoz it is too heavy a price to pay for should u get caught

by then it will be too late for all the "see see! i told u so!"

To "lay-up" a bike, go to LTA office at Sin Ming during their office hours. Fill up their lay-up form with your bike license plate number, as well as the address to where it will be parked. The cost to lay up a vehicle is around $5.25

Bikeshop can do it for you too, but for my previous bike, I felt the bikeshop had too strict regulations and wanted me to keep on riding the bike. That's why I went to LTA myself to do it (quietly)

P.S.: When you lay-up a vehicie, you must not take the vehicle out from the address that you have provided on the form. Hear say got people get dispatched from LTA to spot check one. Also, you can cancel layup even before the 1 year expiry date. But again, cancel layup = must go for inspection.

hey man, then what about:

if buy 'just the bike' from the shop uncle, give downpayment then every month pay. then if i go to a S.A.M /AXS/ branch, will i be able to pay for my season parking ?

if park @ double line, then kenna summon by the Cisco or Semb people, will their system find my name ?

the IU unit will be under my name when i buy the bike from the shop uncle ? or must go VICOM and do ?
