How and where do you put the epoxy resin? DIY?

I haven't seen iRobot, very "swaku". Sold off my PowerBook already, won't be watching any DVDs until Apple releases a new PowerBook. The other day had to go cinema to watch Kung Fu Hustle. Very good movie. Disappointed the nose-digging cross dresser wasn't in it.

The other MV, F4?!?! Got to see it, anybody got lobang for Sharp Aquos G series and modded PS2 slim?

Hi there.

As recommended by Ken, I came here.

Just bought myself the Repsol replica 1000 RR this month.

With regards to the cracks on the fairings... how old is the bike before this happens?

From what I can see... those cracks seem to be initiated by a poorly fitted fairing which results in preload stressing of the fairing causing it to bulge. At the apex of the bulge is where the greatest amount of compressive stress will be accumulated. Through time and vibrations, a crack will most likely form perpendicular to the direction of the compressive force ie a vertical crack in this case.

This kind of stress to the fairing can be induced when one tightens the fairng down fully one screw at a time. The correct way is to loosely fit all the mounting screws first, then in a cross sequential manner tighten the screws in progressively till they bottom out.

I am in the aviation engineering line and have seen this kind of fatigue failures before on aluminium alloy aircraft skins and access panels. I could be wrong but from my work experience I dare wager that this is probable cause.

Another question... thinking of putting on a street legal pipe. Between the Arrow and Yoshi, which one sounds better?? Just like to have an after market pipe on... not that crazy into all out performance or else I will need a PC too. Not for the moment. Mebbe later. Also I not interested in forking out more on my petrol bills.

Understand it is very easy to remove the baffle on an Arrow and not so on a Yoshi.

Any suggestions or recommendations will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You should open up a bike shop. I will be your 1st customer.

I happen to speak to both the Arrow and Yoshi resellers at the SBF anniversary.

Arrow is louder for sure, when the internal ... dunno what you call it ... thingy is removed. A sound clip has been posted a few pages back. I have also posted a Micron clip many more pages back.

Yoshi reseller thinks the Arrow sounds louder too, after the internal thingy is taken out. But the Yoshi does not have the removable thingy, won't be as loud as the Arrow, but will be louder than the Arrow with thingy in place.

I just realised you said better, not louder. I have absolutely no idea.

Will protect the original paint, and maintain shine. However, I do not know what will happen if the lacquer wears off.

Back in the days when Apple's PowerBooks were cladded in grade 1 titanium, it was lacquered to prevent the titanium from changing color due to ... I can't remember what ... oxidation?

However, due to my intense gaming involvement, a patch developed over time on the area where my palm rested on.

Raptor, care to shed some light?

Raptor , look for 'Jerry7007' cos he already installed 'YOSHI' on his bike.

As for 'ARROW' , just love the sound without the "thingy" :lovestruck:

Horsepower wise , not so sure.

Hi there, bio-bee.

Cost me $24.5k on the road.

Heard from some people that it actually cost more to have the Repsol paintwork.

Dun know if that is true.

But then again, what is price if you are madly in love with the machine?? Wahahahahah!!!

With regards to cracks propagating on aircraft structures, the recommended and approved method of stopping it from propagating further is to stop drill it.

What you need to do is to drill a very small diameter hole, (1 mm?) at the end (tip) of the crack. After you have done this, you can fill up the whole with a filler and touch up the spot or hell, but a sticker over it. If you don't do this... that crack is going to keep on propagating.

On the inside, strengthen the defect area with fibreglass repair using the fibreglass repair kits you can easily get from hardware stores. You will need to lay down some fibreglass cloth down first over the whole crack line and coat with the expoxy resin mixture. It is the cloth that provides the mechanical bind to hold the pieces together just like the wire mesh in a concrete wall.

The fairings on older bikes eg the ZXR750 H1 I had, used to be made out of fibreglass. Tell tale giveaway is the back is rough to touch. The setback was, it was thicker and heavier. Nowadays they use the plastic mould injection methods for fairings... thinner and smooth on the inside too, lighter but weaker. Of course if you want a fairing that don't crack I can only think of Kevlar.

Putting on a clear coating is purely cosmetic and will not stop the crack from propagating. Just like hiding wrinkles on an old lady with thick foundation.

Whahahahah!! Just joking.

Titanium - so far the strongest and of the lightest lightest metal known to man. Losing out only to the ceramics. Superb heat dissipation qualities. Most aircraft jet engines today especially the military ones... have alot of titanium parts in them. On some aircraft, titanium sheets are used as heat shields to protect the airframe structures from the convectional heat radiating from the jet engines.

Titanium is almost indestructible... oxidation is the least of its problems.

Any discolorations is probably heat induced or stains.

The titanium palm pad of your Apple book was probably coated with a clear lacquer for that very purpose. The discoloration was probably caused by the moisture (sweat) from your palm reacting with the coating.

If the coating became darker.. it is reaction on the part of the lacqueer... if the coating became lighter... you probably wore off the lacquer coating.

any one lookin 4 me? whether its ARROW or YOSHI its ur own preference....... but if u remove the silencer in the legal ARROW pipe, its will sound louder but u will lose ur compression..... and its so loud that TP can tell the diff..... so they will sure tell u to go LTA for inspection..... then its $500 donation to them.......

I put YOSHI cos i like the shape...... when fitted it does'nt look so empty when u look frm the back......

there wun b much HP increase..... onli increase in sound n torque.......

When is the next petrol session?
