It's possible to download, but please don't pick this approach to get your hands on licensed software; it's illegal.

 

If you're on a budget, don't get the latest Microsoft Office (inside also contains Excel). Ask around; there may be shops that sell previous versions of MS Office.

Yes (and no)

 

No meaning there will be small little quirks that may prevent each other from displaying stuff properly. But that's like 1% of the problems and it shouldn't affect both opening each other's files.
