sigh Guess what I had a fall not from riding but during my routine run...

I suffered abrasion on my elbow. It was just a normal morning run, but I called it the "ghost cover my eyes". Looking back, I saw a raised obvious kerb but I tripped because of that....

Just a normal run and fall already suffered bloodied elbow, can't imagine falling while riding....

Of all things....

I was jumping off a boat onto the Jetty at Pulau Ubin. Even asked the boys to clear the steps so I can land with both feet flat and prepared to bend both my knees to absorbed the shock.

Landed, both knees bending forward, but somehow the right knee bend a bit inward and a Pop ensues.

Been either limping for the last month till now.

Darn it! no cycling, no dancing, no briskwalking or even swimming in no life guard ultra deep pools.

It really bugged me when while riding on a left lane slight corner to turn right, someone attempted to overtake me from inner left...

Sorry you don't impressed me with your slipper , shorts while trying to do motogp stunts especially both lanes are with cars and you just do a sudden reckless cut over in between the cars...

Got cut like so by one before too many years ago. He was most likely in the mid to early 40s? Sounded the horn and he does not seem happy. Beckon me to stop by the carpark entrance. Did so and he seems very agitated mentioning whatever traffic rules. Wanted to call the Traffic Police and so I told him to go ahead. Later on even asked me to fight him. Had to dodge his advances at me all while keeping my head cool. Perhaps he got tired due to age or something and put on his helmet and rode off.

From then on that line where one says about being young blooded and reckless or whatever does not fall into place at all. At least for me it does not. No matter at what age a hooligan will behave like a hooligan.

Whats bugging me now??? http://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/experts-concerned-as-motorbike-coes-rise-to-record-high . i dont think people on top listen or read this

Bugs me too...

Those who need to use a bike to earn a livelihood sees the price of motorcycle COE = the price of the motorcycle, so very expensive.

Those who drive, they are likely to think that it's just 12~15% of a car's COE, so not expensive.

Recently notice more bike delivery are on Malaysian registered (or maybe it's just me) bike. With the currency conversion, sure is worth it to come SGP to work.

when i finally find a parking slot in the carpark and suddenly see a cat on another bike eyeing me, maybe waiting for me to leave then he will come scratch my seat! faster change slot or better faster change carpark. can't deal with another cat torn seat. :slapforehead:

Rather have a cat on my bike than someone sitting on it while smoking. Leaving cigarette ashes and using my bike to butt out their cigarettes. But then again its just me.

I think what's bothering almost every motorcycle enthusiast now is the hike in bike prices due to the new ARF policy.

100% additional fees on OMVs above $10k prices many out of the big bike market. In fact, 50% additional on anything with an OMV above $5k prices quite a few out of any "decent" bikes out there! This is in the name pf progressivity? Pray tell, how is it that we have progressed when many a friend is considering DOWNgrading to more affordable alternatives?

y do u need to downgrade? If u already bought the bikes, then the new ARF would not affect you.

Now might be the best time to buy small bikes for those who needs 1 for transport. Many buyers might pull out from current COE bidding causing the COE to plunge. go buy ur pulsar now!

Actually, it is 'tier' ARF, so there is no changes for those buying small bikes.

I think for those going for 2A bikes, the increase is not too much either.

Hello I'm new to this kind of stuffs.

May I know how to calculate the new ARF?

How much would a lets say $26k machine price (excluding COE) ARF cost?

ARF depends on the OMV of the bike. OMV is the cost of buying the bike from manufacturer and shipping it to Singapore (freight, insurance, etc..). OMV is declared by importer to custom. You'll have to ask the bike shop what is the OMV of the bike.

The machine price of 26K = OMV + ARF + importer profit + bike shop profit (something in this line)

I'm riding an old 2A bike with an OMV of $5800.

Base on the old tax system, the ARF is 15% for $5.8K = $$870

Base on the new tax system, for the first $5K, ARF is @ 15% = $750. The next $800 is subject to 50% ARF = $400. Total ARF = $1150. So difference is $280. Compare to the price of COE, it is a small fraction (5%).

I may be wrong, more experience forummers are welcome to correct me.
