While researching for info for my future trip, I read a thread on GTR forums, about this french guy who toured Laos on a Honda Click (kup kia): 8000 km on a Honda Click !

(If you have time, read through some of the reports on that forum, I guarantee you will start planning trips in your head!)

 

Tomorrow riding around SG with pillionette, and ALL our bags packed exactly as if we were taking off for the big trip. To see how I feel riding with an extra 20kg of luggage on top of the pillionette, to make myself used to it and her too, and to try shooting photos while riding.

After that, we'll do another test ride in MY next week, maybe for 2 days 1 night to see if what we packed is what we need or if we can improve more.

 

I'm cool with the idea that Pulsarians will accompany us at the start of our big trip, but we might decide to take off during a week day to avoid traffic or customs jams - when we are more certain about the exact departure date I'll let you guys know (for now we're looking at the first week of June [ica]).

 

If you guys have any input regarding the weight or any advice, please feel free to post, I'm all ears and I'm in total learning mode for this adventure so shoot !

 

On the paperwork front, there's a bit of a hold up for the Vietnam paperwork. Prices given to us by the 1st guide we contacted are a bit on the high side: USD 600 to cross at Moc Bai (Cambodia border) and USD 1200 to cross anywhere else. Since I want to cross in from Laos, this is way out of my budget. So I'll continue communication with the guide and try to find others to see if I can find something cheaper. I'm also going to drop by the Vietnamese and Laos Embassy in Singapore this week, to get more information. I know Visas and entry permits are cheaper when bought at the border itself rather than at the Embassy, but I'm hoping to pay not more than 400 USD to get into Vietnam so I'm exploring all options and will knock on all doors. I'll keep you guys posted.

 

Also, we went today to get our vaccines done. Tetanus today and Typhoid will be done on Thursday. I also ordered a blood screen test to get papers that prove that I have the vaccines against all Hepatitis. It's not required, but I've read that sometimes, the customs officers might ask for it. Plus it's always good to have in case of a Hospital admission.

We are unsure about Malaria: some say it's a must to take medication, but I've read many many RR (Ride & Report - Ride reports) from bikers touring Laos and Cambodia/Vietnam and none mentioned taking Anti-Malaria pills. Some of these pills have side effects so we're not too sure what to do. The better ones are quite expensive.. We will continue our research and read about it before making a decision.

 

I have spray painted the rack for the saddle bags in black - it's not excellent work but I'm told it's not bad at all so I'm happy with the result overall.

 

I am looking for a solution to carry the bike's tools. Something like the tool tube very popular in the US would be great, but I have to figure out where to fix it..On my TODO list for this week.

 

The website for the trip is almost ready, and we have quite a fair amount of content to be published this week so stay tuned !

i press the power button

red will come on then blue and then both off...

in normal mode the blue should stay on

 

now got new symptoms

once unplug the cam will be able to record for 3 sec then off liao

cannot stay on power on mode

if u pressed the power button it will be red..then press the top button to record den it will start blinkin blue..from wad i noe, if u juz press the power button and neva press anythin else, it will auto power off. but if u did all these, then maybe its battery problem

Guys anyone noe what low fuel oil level means?my indicator keeps blinking...can we recify ourselves or we need to really send to UM?
