Bajaj Pulsar 200, Apr 2011 - Nov 2012

Cb 400 VerS 50th Anni Nov 12 - Sept 14

@Ardian : to my knowledge no one ever done it in SG yet. This is most probably an Indonesian pulsar..

@yhang23: Push start steps:

1. Get the bike on top of an MSCP slope (between 2 levels) or down slope road.

2. Sit on the bike, both feet touching the ground

3. turn ON the ignition key, kick up the gear from neutral to 2nd gear (one kick, you'll feel it)

4. Clutch in, keep it like that

5. Push your bike doing the duck paddling with your feet (you know what I mean !) - run forward with the bike, using both legs to give it mementum. This is where the down slope helps a lot !

6. As soon as ou start moving off and getting a tiny bit of "speed" (i.e bike is moving, wheels are wheeling), start the engine with the electric start and throttle as you would do usually

7. release clutch in as you do that

8. Engine will start - clutch in to not let it die again and go to neutral: you're done !

A few notes to help :

- if you are not sitting on the bike but pushing it from the side, watch out for the side stand/main stand: these are pretty sharp and can hurt you (I have a scar to prove it)

- it's best to have someone push you on flat road or push you to down slope so you can put both feet on the pegs and focus on starting the bike

- the trick is all in the clutch in / clutch out synchronization. If at first it doesn't work, don;t despair, and try again, clutching in/out at different times.

- as soon as the bike slows down to stop, you have to redo so if you're new to it, push the bike a couple of levels up an MSCP. It's a bit tiring by yourself but at least, you get 3-4 slopes down to ground level to try again !

- a flat road works well too, the bike is heavy enough that once it picks up momentum it sort of picks up speed easily without having to push too much

You can also search for push start videos on youtube :thumb:

@irahc78: the FC increases significantly with higher speeds. it's almost shocking.. the bike is very economical in its comfort zone, but as soon as you ride it for a while at "high" speeds, it eats fuel like pop corn at the movies !

@revhappy: had the exact same symptoms when had troubles with my battery. I suggest you higher the rpm, 0.8 is just not good for your engine.. it's not saving jack to have it so low. It's best to have it at least at 1.2 I think. Also, make sure you don't release the throttle so soon when you cold start it. Rev it a bit, go above 2 -2.5, be patient give it some warming up time, then you can release your throttle and it will keep running :)

This is perfect especially for those of you who are tall or taller than average. Also good feedback from average sized riders who carry boxes/pillions.

It changes your riding position to a more relaxed, more comfortable position. Pretty cool item, I recommend it to Pulsarians, I am glad MJ introduced it to us :thumb:

i searched youtube but they didnt say anything about pressing in the engine push start button, they just said to release the clutch and the engine will come to live, so to press the push start button or not?

does it work on a totally dead battery too?

I press it because it's a habit - by right you shouldn't need to !

stock tires are built for more sandy roads in india

there are riders who ride with stock tires in sg and feel that they are ok

but most of us will change them out as they tend to skid easier on wet surface or even mscp floor

Duro is cheaper than battalex but cannot compare to the grip of battalex

its not too bad

anyway which UM you went to?

got one with all pulsars only the other one is with other bikes

who is the uncle?chris?mech?

sounds like chris

they only have battalex, duro and irc tires

my battalex rear tires puncture 2 times and both tires are less than 1 year old

decided to change to duro

battalex has great grip but is ex and if you travel a lot will wear out faster...

Thanks Alvin for the address !

What's the pb with the brake light : is it the bulb that's tired ? Do I need to take one with me on the trip

For the tyres, I've been using battlax for almost 10k km now and they are really great, never a skid or lost balance, excellent grip. Worth the price in my opinion.

For my next pair, I was thinking to try the sinko ones (is that the name ??), from japan or korea I can't remember now. Apparently good quality and good price..
