Talking about exhaust wrap, what a coincidence! I have a story to tell.

Just came back from JB petrol run. The floor at the esso petrol bunk is slightly uneven. After filling petrol and paying got on the bike and was about to start it, mind you both my feet can touch the ground when I sit on the bike. But because the floor is slightly uneven and tilting towards the right side and my bike was already heavy with full petrol that I couldnt control the bike when I got on top of it. Its started tilting and it was so heavy that couldn't stop it from falling and then it fell slowly on the right side. It didn't fall completely, because there was that wooden platform for support.

But the bike was so heavy that I could not pull it up alone from one side, I was also afraid that the petrol will spill. So I called the attendants and they helped me pull up the bike. Everything seemed fine till then, but after few seconds I realized that while trying to pull the bike up my leg's calf skin came in contact with the exhaust pipe near the engine and part of the top skin had peeled off and the burning sensation started only after few minutes.

Right now I am at home applying ice to the inner part of the skin :(

Put toothpaste..it helps if its juz a scald

hmmmm ... Water is just fine. No with direct contact with ice bro!!! ...

Should you put toothpaste on your burn?

Answer:

No.

The best treatment for a minor burn is to hold it under cold (not ice) water for a few minutes.

Never put tooth paste, butter, creams, or anything greasy on a burn, since it can actually hold the heat in, and cause even further discomfort or injury. Use only medications specifically made for burns.

If the burn is bad enough that it blistered the skin, treat it with an approved OTC medication for burns, and keep a dry bandage on it until the blister begins to heal. If the burn is severe, you need to see a doctor immediately.

I'm not rue you should apply ice on a burnt or torn off skin. It's best to pit some ointment anti burn cream and get yourself some anti biotics.

MJ, thanks for all the info on the wrap, I don't want to be itchy for a week so I'll see how when I come back.

Now the departure date is settle next Tuesday. I know pulsarians might not be able to take of with me but maybe we can do a gathering on Monday evening just for drinks and farewell?

I'll post info here, likely to be in a central place so easy for all to come.

Cheers!

Sure ! But I can't ride so fast on the highway, with all the load :shy:

I think we want to go really early in the morning to reach KL in the beginning of the afternoon.

We will spend 1 night in KL, as the next day I need to go to the Moroccan embassy there.

Anyone here can recommend a safe hotel for parking the bike in KL?

Its healed now. The burning sensation lasted for about 2 hrs. While I was riding back the cool air was help in reducing the burning. Once I reached home it started burning like hell. No choice but to apply ice. The topmost layer of skin peeled off. Although, my leg touched the hottest part of the exhaust, i.e. near the engine, I guess the contact wasn't for too long so I got away with minor burn.

Now I remembered how the bike fell. I had not even sat on top of it. I just removed it from the mainstand and since it was already in a slightly tilted position to the right side while I was standing on the opposite side, there is no way I could have avoided it from falling. I felt quite embarrased because I have been riding pulsar for years.

So lesson learnt, never park your bike with it tilting on the right side. If it is tilting on the left its much more easier to control it because it is falling towards you and thats the reason why the side stand is also on the left side.

I was getting off Shadow but from the opposide side to the one I usually use and almost dropped the bike. It was fully loaded and I parked in a way where I couldn't get off the bike from the left side as I usually. So instead of lifting my right leg over the bike to dismount, it was my left leg.

It felt awkward and a second later I'm loosing balance after putting downn my left leg, and the bike started leaning to the opposite side, I grabbed it, pulled back but it over powered me. Luckily my pillionette was standing 1m away, I shouted and she quickly jumped to help so the bike never touched the ground.

First time this happens to me. I tried for practice to get off the bike again on the right side and I'm definitely not comfortable, I have better balance and synchro when on the other side. Go figure.

@alvinyansg, this is the wire I got for the DIY oiler:

http://tapatalk.com/mu/ca9c0e0a-d27d-d9f1.jpg

Is it the right one ?

My tube is quite stiff, maybe I don't need to insert this?

This evening I just put together the tubing and the brake fluid reservoir and sealed it with silicone.

Left it to dry during the night.

Tomorrow will fit it on the bike and add the valve then test. I think I will try to fit 2 cable ties to have a double drip of oil.

Got the oil from motoworld, $14 the bottle of 500ml of scottoiler.

Oh, I wanted to share also, first time I pump 17L. Could've added maybe half a litre but I don't like when the closing cap of the tank has to dip into the fuel. I yet have to ride until my reserve empties.

The joy of pumping in Singapore - this is RON95.

Ended up paying $29 thanks to cards discount. (the choice of finger is purely coincidental I promise...)

To apply ice on burnt injury is a BAD habit .... bad habit started from a frequent doings and it will continue to teach our next generation the same mistakes. It is wise to learnt and adapt a correct procedure which will also change the wrong mindset and will helps our next generation the correct and safe way.

No doubt the injury is minor but when a bad habit is often used, it will eventually lead to the same mistake if one or someone got severe injury. Please do remember skin are very delicate and some are very sensitive.

Wrong medication approach can lead to more severe damage.

Why ice is not a good choice for burnt injury? Have you heard of Frosbite and Gas Gangrene? Both related with mucle tissue destruction but from a different source.

Pleas read here ...

not this...

i got this type

http://i51.tinypic.com/wbw61j.jpg

like mj and i mention before the wire is to make the tubing able to flex to the direction and location and stay there...

without the wire the tube will flex back to the original shape and your oiler tip will not be able to stay in location you want it to be...

what O'ren, meself and uncle mj have or going to fix is DIY oiler

not the ezzy oiler

it serves the same purpose of keeping the chain oiled

with or without grim also depends on the type of oil you use for the oiler

do read up from the start of the DIY oiler thread and the Ezzyoiler CMO thread for more info...
