Saw a Wave and a Suzuki kup at the bike shop near our place this morning.

 

Still deciding.... the FBB plater is $2.2k. not really worth it imho.

1 big difference is for you to install k&n filter you need to cut your air box and its more expensive...protec is plug and play...for p200 if you install protec filter you might see the filter choked warning light which is no issue due to the way the p200 sensor works...

if you are interested do update me cause got a tiger rider interested to get so can share the shipping...

 

Alrighty, when do you need an answer by? Oh how much is the protec filter btw? sry, i know you guys mentioned it many times before. haha.

 

Normally overseas, K&N filter is installed along with the free flow exhaust, even then there is no concrete evidence that you will get better power or pickup.

 

Think about it in this way, Filter's job is let maximum amount of air in while preventing dust as much as possible. The best case for performance is to have no filter at all. So you should test for a short distance by removing the filter whether you have any performance gain. My bet not much. If really more air would have helped in getting better power they might as well have increased the size of the air intake.

 

K&N only selling point is that the filter doesn't need to be replaced. Their claim is that it will last forever by just cleaning it with their own cleaning oil.

So how do find your Ride so far? .....

 

To change air filter is a good move ... KNN does not have our size reason we can't opt for that brand but unless like alvin has stated ... you can opt for the open port the cone shape but you need to cut your air box to fix the AF. But the headache comes from the AFR ... unless you upgrade to mod our engine like port n polish, bore up, stroke up and yes free flow pipe .. your KNN cannot perform to its optimal.

 

For Protec AF .. the material is like the KNN type .. wheter it's oiginal like KNN we do not know lah .. but basically it is better than stock in terms of durability and maintenance.

Using stock AF which is just a normal sponge reason why there is a wire mesh in your airbox to prevent more dirt or tiny pieces from the damage sponge to enter into the engine.

But using Protec AF you can remove the wire mesh since the material of the AF is a cloth type like knn and thus it's filtered more cleaner air to the engine for better combustion.

 

Any way end of the day .. it is your personal preference lah to change or not to ...... heheheheheh

 

I can say here (paisey) I'm one among the oldest riding P200 (3 years old) ....and using the Protec AF does wonders to your bike!! .... remember the 3 components for good combustion ... clean air (good air filter), fuel (correct jetting size) and good fire (good or clean spark plug and coils)!! ...

The ride's awesome. Saving me a lot of time to and back from work and making my friends who ride jealous of the insane fuel efficiency. Hahaa.

Just one mini point that was brought up before by the previous owner. The engine starts to have some knocking sounds around the 3.5k-4.5k rpm when revving through that range during acceleration. Beyond that the sound is normal. Don't really know what's the cause though. Saw that the previous owner didn't complete the 3 servicings at UM too. At the back of the manual, Only saw the first servicing signed. Other two blank. =/

 

Hey guys ... I'm losing interest in this bike ... few months ago the bike got problem starting in the morning ... have to crank few times ... only will help if i pull the choke ... and after getting it started ... will feel the bike is struggling with acceleration for a while till i warmed up riding like 10 mins ... than the bike will behave ok ... this problem is only for morning starts ...

 

Ok let me describe the struggle ... when you open throttle the bike will almost die ... sound like got a lot air ... at times you can hear knock at the engine ... i have spoken to UM but have not solved the problem ... they mechanic have washed the carburetor ... but still have same problem ... after losing my patient i have not started the bike for three weeks ... than yesterday decided to "try" starting ... no electrical power ... since the bike is coming to two years ... i went to kranji and bought battery ... GS ... 45 bucks .. fixed it in the bike ... now have electrical ... but old problem persist ... but now even worst ... can only start few seconds ... and sound of the crank is getting scarier ... I'm hoping for opinions ... and could anyone recommend bike shop around woodlands for pulsar ...

Good to know your ride is awesome!! hehehe .... so still have the knocking sound till now yeah ...

 

how about the electricals problem .... anymore? ....

 

knocking sound basically due to AFR is too lean .... not sure wheter you or the previou owner have tried 1 step up for the main jet to see if the problem can be rectified?

P200 stock using 110 size .. you can try and change to 115 for the main jet or just try to adjust the Needle jet setting .. stock normally is on the mid range .. try to move up 1 from mid.. the mech will know what i meant... hehehe

 

Another knocking sound basically come from the exhaust pipe due to rust and corrosion where the inner pipe (mild steel) get loose from the outer pipe which is stainless steel. If that the case, the mech will send the pipe for welding to attach back the inner pipe to the SS pipe.

 

For other reason .. hmmm I not sure lah cos I don't have this issue on my bike ... kekekeke

 

I don't want to racun you with lots of stuff but sometimes it is necessary to .. hehehhehee

 

You can get Xado stuffs for the engine treatment since Xado products can get at JB now.

Try Xado Revitalizant and Anti Carbon first for the engine noise.

Do not have a multi-meter..... read on some forum might be battery voltage too low to start the starter...... roughly know how much to replace a battery ?

ignition coils are the coils that provide the electricity for the sparking of your spark plugs...look at the 2 spark plug position on your engine block...the rubber cap covering the plug is connected to a wire...follow the wire up to and under your tank,there is where the ignition coils are located...

 

air filter as the name tells you it filters the air going into the engine...
