Hey guys, I just went and washed my bike. As I had mentioned earlier, my paint work on the plastic parts have faded, but when I splash water on the painted part, it looks nice and bright red, but when it dries it looks dull again.

I think if I wax it then the effect is same as wet look. I have never waxed bike before. Any suggestions for cheap wax or any other product to bring the shine back?

The head assembly of the pulsar fits its design perfectly...

For ug2s maybe change to s4 headlight might be nice cause if the analogue meters...

For ug3 n above will be ugly to change out of the stock head cowling cause of the design of the digital meter...

Unless you change more than the head cowling...

You need to restore the paintwork before waxing.

Get a paint restorer or polish which can cut through the oxidised paintwork.

You have to do a few coats or rounds to bring back the luster.

Once the paint is good, then wax.

A little update for you guys.. ticking sound came from the broken part of the rocker arm.. the loose bit was pounded by the engine to bits..

it was flushed out by changing engine oil and using a magnetic pole to get them out..

So if you encounter loud ticking sound.. this could be it..

The worst affected are the right side air filter cover and right side tank shroud. In case of the right side air filter cover and the tank shroud in the pic it is not the sun glare, the paint has totally come off and can see the undelying white plastic. So these 2 parts I think either need to change them, respray or do some carbon fibre or sticker wrapping. For the other plastics like tail board and fender, I think waxing/paint restoring may work. I dont know what the previous owner did to the bike. Looks like he used to wash it with acid  Luckily the the tank paintwork is in good condition.

Glad that you were able to fix the issue, mate. So after opening the head, what did they say about the piston or valve condition? Changed any other engine parts?

Usually uv damage to plastic parts are harder to restore. Metal parts like tank won't be that easily affected.

Once the clear coat is damaged, will be a little tough. One way is to use fine sandpaper and mama lemon to smooth it up, then polish it with rubbing compound . Bring out the shine as much as possible. Once you are satisfied with it, get a few layers of clear coat over it.

Facing similar issues with my Honda EX5. The side covers, handle areas, and front fender are all plastic. Used rubbing compound and nothing.

The body parts under the seat and tail and rear fender are metal. One round and the gloss is back.

Thanks. Will look for these Meguiar's products. I just went to fairprice express esso petrol bunk to top up petrol and fill air, after that did some look - look see - see for the detailing products that they have. They have Turtlewax products. Turtlewax polishing compound costs about $6.5, not bad price, it also comes with foam for application. I will also check out Giant. They have quite a few products. I think I remember seeing Sonax products there.

At the moment only researching. Dont want to be hasty about this :)

Nice to know that your engine is good now. You must be one of the first pulsarian to buy a bike and learnt so much about the bike so soon, haha. For me it took almost a year to know what is inside the engine. :)

Thanks, In my case, the clear coat has surely come off. I will go to HLC and get a quote from them to respray the plastics. Since the clear coat is already come off, I should ask them them for a discount since it is less effort to sand it off, lol.

They will still need to prep the bike before paint. Let me know how it turns out.
