The mirrors got loose. Also, for a change, I wanted to change them. $20 / pc made me shake off my laziness and fix the mirrors myself.

I did have to replace my battery. New one costed me $48. Its the wet cell type.

My battery too has a problem. If I don't start the bike over the weekend then Monday morning when I turn on ignition, I can see the battery weak indicator coming on, although so far didn't have trouble with starting the bike in 1 or 2 cranks, I better be careful since mine is p200 no kick start also.

 

Do you guys think just getting the battery charged will help or need to change?

 

Mine is the Shinko maintenance free battery btw, not sure how old, although my bike itself is 4.5 yrs old.

Installing kickstart on a P200 is a bad idea for a number of reasons:

1) It wont be easy to kickstart a 200CC 4 stroke bike, thats the reason you hardly see any 200 CC bike with a kickstart. For p180 itself kickstarting is difficult

2) The lack of kickstart has actually helped the engineers to improve the power of the bike. I read in XBHP forum, that if you install the longer camshaft from P220 to P180 UG3 you get better power but you lose the kickstart functionality. Even the P180 UG4 they dropped the kickstart functionality to extract 0.5 BHP of extra power

3) With the availability of battery weak indicator on the P200 and the option to install a voltmeter, the lack of kick start and hence getting stranded with a flat battery is a non issue.

 

Now regarding whether it is possible to install kickstart on P200, well you will need to do number of changes on the engine and crankcase. You might as well get a P180 UG3 engine and then do the reverse and try and rebore the block or look at putting p220 block in it.

Reason I ask is I really dont see any difference between all pulsar models with regards to the brake levers and reservoir. I have have ridden almost all models of pulsar including the classic pulsar 180 launched in 2001, haha.

 

If it really fits only P180 UG1 as you say, then just want to mention that there are not many UG1 on the road. Even in this forum AFAIK only Arthur Chan have/had it.

Couple of others just bought it and sold it off in quick succession. Do note it is 2005 middle model thats why so rare.
