my dream bike wont be a pulsar. even if i get my dream bike, i wont be riding it everyday. most of the time it'll be in tip top condition resting in covered carpark.

 

but i still keep my tranport bike in running condition. dont want it to break down half way then i'll be

there's always alternatives, but do u want to pay the cost? all in all, still adds up to what u want. similar to bikes, older generation bikes will be cheaper...

Yo folks.

 

I have just started my new job and sad to say there is NO internet access from the office computer.

However, i was wondering if i could apply for mobile broadband and surf using my HP. However, if so my home's fixed line BB will have to be cancelled.

 

So i would like to ask anyone here if there are any plans out there that cater for both HP surfing and desktop surfing at home? Note is that in my home, there are 2 desktops, 1 is mine n the other 1 belongs to my dad.

We do surf or check email at the same time sometimes.

 

Please advice which Telco and plan is the most cost saving.

I don't think Mio Plan provides mobile data (3G). It's just home internet + mobile services (2G) + TV. You might have to get a 3G plan instead of the basic mio mobile plan to access internet on your HP.

 

I wouldn't advise you to do that tho. In SG 3G plans are nowhere near acceptable in terms of price. So cancelling your home Internet access for 3G will be a wrong move.

 

And like Arthur_Chan said, surfing on an HP device is really not comfortable for the long run. If you have a big screen (iPhone style), then it's pretty convenient but even with that, it's not as nice as a normal computer screen.(duh)

 

I would suggest you try to find a free wifi access near your workplace (wireless@SG maybe?) and if you can't spot one, try and ask around the office: It's very surprising that there would be no Internet access. Maybe your computer is not hooked, but you can tap into a local wireless network, or share another computer's connection?

 

If you find a not too expensive plan that allows you to both surf on your HP and at home, let us know please?

 

Regarding broadband internet here in SG, don't even get me started... it's slow, insanely expensive and so so so much backward if you compare it to where other countries are. Singapore has nothing on Korea or Sweden, or not even France. The "promised" bandwith is rarely there because ADSL technology depends a lot on distance, quality of phone cabling and the environement. Cable technology can provide a more stable bandwith in comparison but is more expensive to maintain and set up.

 

The future of Internet broadband is no doubt in Optic Fiber. A lot of countries in Asia understood this almost half a decade ago. Singapore is just starting to roll out the optic fiber on the island. It's excellent news but be prepared for a strong bill: optic fiber is very costly. But on the other hand it's absolutely painless to install and maintain on the provider side. Specially since in Singapore other cable infrastrcutures can be use to roll the optic fiber out - and of course all these channels are owened by either the governement or big holding groups. Since these big holding groups also own the company that will roll out the optic fiber (Remember when mjbs was talking about "family" ? Yep, that's it), the circle is complete.

 

So if Singtel's billing habits are maintained, it's expected that optic fiber will be quite expensive. But then again, they might want to have as much people as possible subscribing when they launch it to gain popularity and hence offer interesting plans.

About yesterday's RECCE : Thanks a lot guys for organizing it, it was casual but nonetheless very useful as a change of timing was decided and we got to get a peek at the road we're gonna take on saturday.

 

But the most important part was that we got to sit together for drinks and have a nice chat! I was happy to see everybody again. So I learned how to start a Yamaha Fazer 1000cc that you can't start if you don't know the trick, and I tried a Flip-Up helmet for the first time (thanks viewpanel!) and I learned a lot of things just by listening to everybody else's advices and sharing of experience Oh And I saw HUUUUUGE scooter bikes ! Have never seen so many HUGE scooters and nice Harleys in my life before ! Singapore rocks.

 

Nemesis, it was nice to meet your friend and his gf, hope to see them around soon (but not for a race ok!).

 

Thanks a lot akhi mjbs for the ride and for showing me around, I can't wait to have my bike, thanks to you now I want a Pulsar EVEN MORE hahaha !

just finished my hazard lights yesterday, working great, didnt go thru any relay, tap direct from switch. but i dont know about ug2/3 switch, need to c if it's the same, then can follow my method.

 

this morning i got a run for my money on the hazzard switch. rained really heavy. and i only tape up the switch, no housing, screws either. it's still working fine. however one of my signal died, dont know if it's bulb blow or wiring problem, need to check this evening.

yeah.. ha.. ok! thx for the help.. i realised my bike reali got the bumping la.. and also.. nowadays when i start up.. my bike idling RPM not as steady as before liaoz..any idea why? its usually qutie steady at 1.2K RPM.. but lately.. its fluctuating quite abit.. from 1.2 to 0.8 area.. back and forth.. like my fuel not gettin enuff air to burn properly.. nothing to do wif spark plug? cuz the spark plug also damn long nv change liaoz.. i have two spare spark plugs of my own thuogh.. so can change anytime.. but main problem is why my idling RPM so unsteady suddenly.. and the bumping and sluggish response by my bike and the "feeling-so-hard" to maintain my speed feeling.. haha..

to katana999.. i dunoe wad u mean by open choke but i do nid to increase power while in neutral gear so the rpm will stay idle ard 1.2K RPM.. ha.. do u have any idea why the idling RPM is so unsteady?
