Usually, I will advise to change the front tire of the same brand and model as with your rear tire due to the flow of threads. However, I have heard from riders with different combination of front and rear tires running well.

If you people need a recommendation, I suggests Metzeler Marathon for their tight grip but the stock Dunlop is equally good since I have tested this set of tires on a heavy downpour for a good, few hundred kilometers back from Hatyai. Having said, I would still like to remind you people that no matter how good a pair of tires is, nonetheless would still skip if you do not handle your bike properly.

ok, nights. Thanks for the recommendation :thumb: I'll check with Rosli when I come back

hai guys, currently im riding a super four bike. saw a beautiful shadow just now and i fall in love with it. anyway where can i know more about this shadow bike and how to maintain it? how much it cost in the market now. do update me. thanks

Maintenance wise it's bout the same with most bikes. Chain, EO, spark plug, brakes, etc. Nothing special. But do note it's a whole different ball game altogether moving from a Super 4 (naked/muscle?) to a Shadow (cruiser). The sudden drop in power and all may seem like a downer. But if you enjoy just chilling while riding then yea, go for it. Or should I say, if you don't mind riding thru Little India on a Sunday :)

whats wrong with riding thru little india on sundays?

I say cruiser riders are more cool.

(bcoz they ride with their legs open, so that their *ahem* wont heat up so quickly)

learning to be a better rider.

Nothing wrong. What I'm trying to say is if you have the patience to ride thru Little India on a Sunday cos that's when all the foreign workers are having their off day and are hanging out there then cruisers are fine, comparing to a more powerful bike like Super 4 for example which you would wanna throttle away rather than slow crawl thru the traffic. I have nothing against the Bangladeshis. In fact I stay in Little India and I love the place. Can't imagine staying anywhere else.

Yeah, Little India can be hard to squeeze through some times. Soon, you'll get used to it.

I saw a used Honda Shadow ACE parked at Universal Motor last Saturday. Maybe you want to give the shop a visit? and have you tried other shops like AS Poon, Mah Pte Ltd etc?

Dude. Do check out the previous post.

One time garang can go knock your exhaust, but inspection cannot knock back don't forget. Btw, 400cc might not have the power to produce the sound you want. Something about compression not enough I think. Anyone care to share?

I read in dunno which thread about a mech from dunnoe which shop.....he knoes how to knock exhaust nice nice......

Cant seem to find the post....sigh....anyone noes?

Hi all,

I just commited to buying a 2nd hand shadow (97'), and appreciate your advice on the following:

1. Is it normal for the gas tank to feel a bit 'shaky', and not as firmly mounted as what I seen in other cruisers. I was told the slight shakiness is due to design and intended absorb shock during movement.

2. If this is not normal, what would be the likely consequence? gas leakage?

3. What would be the approximate cost to replace the exhaust, as it is a bit rusty? Where can I get a replacement (boon siew?? or any place else cheaper?)

4. Must the exhaust be replaced in entirety or just a single pipe?

Thanks a lot and happy riding.

Hmmm......anyone did this before and went for inspection? Care to share experience?

You are asking the obvious. Ask yourself first, what are you looking for? Louder sound or increase performance or louder sound with worse off performance? It is known facts among adequate mechanics that by modifying a motorcycle exhaust pipe, its performance will be affected in any physic case be it for good or worse. However, if you are just looking for louder sound in compensation for negative performance then by all means, you could visit any mechanics and if you need recommendation, I have come across posts like i.e. Ah Koon, Rosli, Seng Kwang, Choongkok, Planet etc. The tricky issue would be tuning the modified exhaust pipe to the bike performance that is sad to say, complicated.

Just for your information, an Italian friend of mine who rode a Honda Steed with modified exhaust pipes did not pass his vehicle inspection while another friend with a Honda Slasher pass the vehicle inspection. Do note that both bear similar resemblance with the loudness of their exhaust pipes.

There are only three different Honda Shadow models in the market that is Shadow ACE, Slasher and Special Edition. In regards to version aspect, only Shadow ACE is imported by local motorcycle shops in recent years that is differentiate by the rider's floor board in replacement of foot peg and H.I.S.S feature from year 2004 onwards followed by bearing a different fuel tank emblem from year 2005 onwards. Price wise varies but with the newer version of Shadow ACE going on a slightly higher side.
