Since yesterday I am proud owner of a 1999 Honda Shadow ACE 400, and to be honest it's a pain in the ar** to find any info on this bike in Europe! I am not sure how many of them are around in Ireland but it's only a handful.

So, first things first, you guys saved my life with lots of useful info on the Shadow 400, specially that one on fitting 750 parts on the bike... lets go shopping! Am i right that in your area you have a bit of a problem with bike inspectors? Ireland is luckily enough a bit of a banana republic still, which means, lots and lots of mods and nobody cares ;-)

I posted a photo of my shadow a bit further down, please note that the photo does not do the bike justice since it's been taken with my camera phone.

 

It came with pretty much all the extras you could wish for and the only additional mods I'm planning to carry out is an LED Engine mod, here seen on a harley (see 3rd pic) and I bought a new radiator cover, 2nd pic,(Cause it's pretty;-)

Some people might find the LED mode a bit of a poser but it makes sense here, considering the poor lighting on Irish roads - you wanna be seen - believe me!

Up until now the first impression of the bike is great! Let me know what you think of the LED mod... and be gentle, I'm a newbie ;-))

Anyone here knows how long the stock tyres on a Shadow Ace last? And if you did change it, what did you change it to? How much? Ever thought of modifying the rear to make it even broader?

Just got a 2nd hand Shadow ACE in Oct this year and immediately changed the tires to the same stock type Dunlops. Cost a bomb - $160 front/$180 rear. Motortiam claimed that tire price increase due to the oil price increase, etc. According to motortiam, price of tires gone up recently. Seen from other threads that Metzler also good choice.

hi guys.. bought 2 42 liter boxes wanted to fix side way.. just to realized that the shadow side does not have any place to mount the base.. any one know where to buy the racks that could possibly fit the base? I am using givi box and kapa box.. thanks for the advise in advance..

Should be able to man.....go to Ahboy and get those black metal brackets with multiple holes in it....then mount it on the side and mount baseplate on it....

 

Very difficult to type lah....or you tell him bracket for fixing top box at sides....he should noe....

 

U will need four of those...

no la.. not new handles but new grip.. got myself a new kuryakyn grips. wanted it for a long time.. but during installation some on the glue got on the chrome part of the grip. any good way to remove it?

I duno if the rider are anyone of you but yesterday 20 Feb 2008, 5pm at NUH Kent ridge wing level 1 carpark, your shadow400 brown/milk colour fall and I helped you to carry up. Your shadow just fall beside my bike

 

I'm not sure whether is it you that cause my bike to fall to the right, my bike suffer numerous scratches, bend right mirror and a crack sit fairing on the right. All these were not there when i park my RVF in the carpark on 20 Feb 2008 morning.

 

Concidence is it? I duno, your bike fall on my left, and my bike showed signs of falling to the right. Even thou my bike was up right when i reached, i only notice the scratches, bend mirror and crach fairing during riding. I only wish if the rider is here and own up.

 

As for my feelings? I help another biker while he kept quiet about the incident. Or maybe I just too suspicious, wasn't done by the shadow rider. If you are man enough, just own up and explain whether is it you or not. I will not take it personally.
