Just bought a skipper 1 week ago.. After a long ride, i realised that the air filter casing is not mounted properly because the holder is broken. 1 shop quoted $67 for the air filter and its casing.. Reasonable or not?

Posted

It's not a new casing.. but a second hand one.. But the problem is i've already given the workshop a deposit of $20. I had to because the casing is falling off and i needed to keep it intact temporarily. The shop did it for me..

A simple summarised.

Maintenance:

Every 10000km, changed your

normal belt ~ 30 dollars plus, ( Don wait for it to tear, you would regret)

spark plug, ( Don wait for it to die on u)

roller and clip ( not a must, but since changing belt, may as well do it)

Quoted://

Tyre (rear): Manual recommended: 29 PSI ( i used 32 Psi)

Tyre (Front): Manual recommended: 21 PSI ( i used 25 Psi)

AIR Filter: i wash it every 3 mths depends on weather. For Wet season, i would wash it every 2 mths.

Rear hub oil: maybe changed it alternatively when you change your rear tyre.

Spray Hi-temp paint on your exhaust pipe occasionally, tends to rust until got lobang. If got lobang, gd luck. Ur bike definately louder than Harley. I onced gana that, people ( jaws opened) looked at me like superman jus flied over.

Thats all for maintence . Simple isnt it.

Anyway, just remember to top up your 2t whenever you top up your petrol.

Insufficient 2t would kill your piston.

If you shout more louder than your horn, i would suggest that you change your horn. For me, i changed to Stebel Magnum ($18).

Quoted://

It was stated to spray hi temp paint so dat the pipe wun have lobang. I think mine have already coz its so noisy now. Anyone any idea wat to do ? I change my belting and it cost 90 bux. Sheesh. Kena conned big time already now dat u guys are saying its only 30 bux. Any place to recommend for gd servicing for my skipper?

hi pal, like to chk with u,where u change yr horn and is it loud? abit sick of my present horn liao.

I know of a shop who charges $200 for re-spraying of skipper. It's located at Eunos Industrial Park. It does mainly car spray..

I would like to ask one thing regarding my skipper.. If i don't start the bike for more than 2 days, it is very difficult to start. Is it normal for an old skipper or is there a problem with mine? If there is, what is the problem and how much to replace it plus which shop offers the best deal?? Thanks in advance..

Last time i also encounter this problem.

But i played with the idling speed by adjusting the fuel intake screw, without pulling the throttle, then problem solved.

I think there is a term for this, called fuel overflow. Don know whether rite anot?

Anyway, wash ur air filter, it helps a little bit. :cheer:

Sorry for being ignorant.. How to do this fuel overflow??

Saw one at Eunos Industrial Park.. The lane just behind Singapore Post.. Not sure about the name of the shop.. But if you go along that lane, sure can see the bike outside.. Blue colour with matching box and outlook very promising.. I asked about the price and the guy quoted me $1000.. I'm sure can negotiate..

A few years ago, i bought my skipper 4 $700. So common sense, my bike depriciation is actually the repair cost that it required.

So do ur maths whether is it worth it. I damn sure that 2years down the road, it would still worth $800.

Well said brother.. But seriously, i think can lower the price a bit lah.. He opened price at $1000 so my guess is, can lower down to $800 to $900..

Just asking is it very easy to slide while navigating a corner at a moderate speed and is it easy to skid? Cos the tyres not as big compared to other bikes so abit worried.

As long you have good tires,

Suspension in proper condition,

Correct technique,

Your pushing of performance is still within limits.

Conering not done in horrid road conditions (ge, got oil spill, uneven roads, sandy roads)

You will not skid with any bike while doing conering.

can anyone clear my doubts? today went for my skipper inspection at vicom kaki bukit, but failed the 1st time because of ineffective rear brake 32.2%, thus willingly went back to my mechanics to rectify the problem. One hour later went back to another inspection but failed again becos of the rear brake again 39.1%. However i can already felt the full effect of the rear brake where a gentle squeeze is enough to bring my skipper to a gradual stop unlike previously. i haf already apply all my strength when i was required to apply my rear brake but it still failed. totallly pissed off when i wanted another chance to apply it again but got rejected by the assessor and told me to go back to my mechanics again. can anyone enlightened me on what should i do? change another centre and try my luck? and do i require to go back to the same centre for my 3rd inspection? :help:
