Adding "S" in front of bike plate

I heard we can add a "S" in front of the bike plate for old bikes. Anyone got any idea from which year and before then can?

I heard its plates AN and earlier..

Like AA thru AN...

AA,AB,AC-AL,AM,AN can be 'changed' to SAA,SAB,SAC-SAL,SAM,SAN respectively..

It may not be true/accurate though..

However I ever saw an old vintage scooter with SAM plate..In Yishun.But that was like 3-4 years back..

my friends ride a SAC and SAE bike. But this will not work if you buy the plate and put on a new bike. i happen to seen a SAF plate scooter at east area!

most ppl are trying to reduce the amount of alphabets and digits on their plates.

Hmm...wad's the meaning or purpose behind the whole 'S' thingy ? I don't get it....a 'AA' plate is nicer than a 'SAA'....lolx...
