SBF Official "Where to park" Guide

the barrier at vivo is v short but will they extend the barrier when they start banning bikes into carpark?. hope they don:cheeky:

The original barriers were full length before they were changed to the shorter ones.

From the news below, they're charging for parking starting sometime in October, not stopping bikes from parking there.

I don't see why a car park operator can't or shouldn't charge you for using his car park.

The thing about Vivocity is, if a rider parks there overnight, he/she will end up paying more than a driver because there is no per entry charge for certain timings for motorcycles unlike for cars. Sounds pretty ridiculous to me...

They finally caught on to the fact that many motorcyclists park at Vivocity to go to Sentosa etc. because it's free instead of at the URA car parks around.

With this intelligent move, they've catered to their motorcyclist shoppers (3 hours at one flat rate) while ridding themselves of people who shouldn't be parking there (unless they pay accordingly).

Ok, even if it is so, bikes doesn't take up a lot of space and by doing so,they are gonna deter bikers from parking at vivo for whatever reasons. Look at it at this perspective; bikes can't ride in to Sentosa so one way is to jus leave the bike at vivo. What's wrong with that? If they wanna charge for that reason, perhaps they cud do with a reasonable minimum flat rate shud the bikes be parked there for a long time......instead of by hour...

seriously... the mall management's mindset is like this..

i let the bikers park for free... there will be more bikers patronising my mall, but i earn nothing for parking services.

i charge bikers a fee for parking... worse come to worst, there's only one biker patronising my mall, but at least i can still earn one buck at least.

which is better? zero income or one dollar income?

free for first 3 hours, $1 for more than 3 hours, and $2 for overnight parking will be reasonable for me regarding vivocity.

this really will affect us bikers badly. To think i oways goes to vivo n westmall shop. Sadly ppl think tt bikes r much cheaper so s to say they have the rights to ban us from goin in s they wish.

Me too. I'm glad to have gone to West Mall before the ban came into effect. For Vivocity, I have no choice 'cos it's the nearest free parking shopping centre that I can go to after I finish my work late on Tuesdays :sian:

If you ask Mapletree, in all likelihood they'll tell you that they think it's reasonable. Whether you can ride into Sentosa or not is not their problem - they are mall operators not Sentosa.

It's quite clear that they want people to park, shop, see a show, eat, whatever, and that 3 hours is typically enough for most. To maximise their space usage, income, customer flow, they've offered 3 hours at a flat rate, plus additional charge if you wish to pay to stick around longer. Looks like intelligent use of price to alter behaviour.

The fact that they have a per entry charge for cars but not for motorcycles for certain timings irks me. Is this possibly the first place where a rider has to pay more than a driver when a smaller area is occupied?

hi all, since earlier i posted the question regarding parking at Hotel Royal, just like to let you know that it is free, but nid to park carefully as there is a grdient slope and if not careful, your bike can just slide down hill. most ppl park with main stand or against some concrete slab there.

As for me, after the implementation f the new parking scheme, I think if I need to be at vivo for quite a long time, then most probably I'll ride up via the taxi lane drop my pillion, barang barang, etc etc then ride down to Seah Im to park. If many bikers thinks like me, its gonna jam up the taxi/pick-up point.....
